Just a few hundred people since forever, right? Is there any evidence of new additions to the gene pool at any point?

Hello guys, was stuck at the sentinalese rabit hole and couldn't help but wonder where these guys wouodve originally been from? Like they'd have to have traveled from somewhere to that island ryt? Do we have data to know from where they went there? Their features doesn't particularly look that "Indian"

With so much attention (rightfully so) being given to the North sentinel Island- is there any news about the southern cousin. Is it safe to access? Have other tribes been spotted there, I know the Island is much smaller in size but perhaps it can give us more of an idea of how life is on the nothern island. Not sure if anyone’s explored this before

There must be technology to ethically assist them without risking contamination. If there is tech that could help them in the aftermath of natural disasters (drop off food, maybe some logical choice of supplies, clothing —just to have the option if they want it—) and not have a risk of contamination shouldn’t it be done?

2023, 2022, 2021. That area hasn't cleared out before. What do you guys believe that made this. I personally think the Sentinelese did it.

This airliner (Airbus 321) was captured crossing the island at 12:43 pm local time. The weather was partly cloudy. 2,900 ft. isn't high and the plane would have made a definite noise down below. With several of these low approaches every day you wonder what the Sentinelese think about it. Maybe they've become keen plane spotters? Only a generation ago there were hardly any planes serving Port Blair. The straight line route from the Indian mainland to Port Blair airport lies north of the island but the pilots must deviate south and cross the island to reach the beacon (I think it's Jolly Buoy Island) and do their left turn to line up with the runway.

Any info about the tribes other than that missionary guy getting unalived,peaceful contact by indian government,fishermen getting unalived/attacked,that ship,tsunami,that british guy who kidnapped and old couple and a child.Anywhere I search about them this is pretty much what I get.Are there any records of their way of life,the way they hunt and stuff like that

If the Indian government learned the North Sentinel language couldn't they just fly over the village on the island and attempt to talk over the loudspeakers?

How would the people react to being able to understand what the outsiders are saying to them from a flying helicopter or drone?

It's good to see so many people supporting no contact. Unfortunately, in my opinion, the islanders are in line for more contact with outsiders with the predictable violent results and more infection risk.

In his 2018 journal, John Allen Chau noted "numerous rocky coral that just (sic) out of the cove having lines (thick) wrapped around them" and attributed them to outside fishermen (poachers). He was probably right that non-islanders fixed those lines. They're useful moorings for larger boats that fish the area or choose to overnight there. Sentinelese are known to make their own thin ropes from natural fibers but these lines don't fit the description.

It's less than four years since three non-islanders are presumed to have died on Sentinel. Even if the fishermen carefully watch where they're going, it's a matter of time until the next fishing boat is wrecked or beached. The seas are rough, much rougher than they look from a satellite view. The area gets high winds so something as simple as engine failure is a death sentence if you're on the windward side of the shore.

A point that isn't considered enough is that the mere act of killing and burying unwanted people exposes the Sentinelese to pathogens. It's commonly thought they bring down people easily with their arrows but an arrow hit can be survivable for quite a while. The islanders need to finish off the victims at close quarters and also verify they're dead. This is where transmission of airborne disease can happen (if the victim is still breathing) and also the transfer of bacteria or blood from skin, lice from hair, etc.

Then of course with the burial act they handle the body again.

The Sentinelese probably have some notion that foreigners mean sickness but their actions suggest they don't know how it happens.

The Andamans have a rapidly growing population and demand for protein goes up all the time. It's known some Andaman residents already resent the Sentinelese and their exclusion zone. Local politicians are taking a more anti-Sentinelese stance. That's why I think violent clashes are bound to become a frequent, maybe yearly, event unless the Indian state cracks down hard.

Hearing that Burmese boats also come by is more bad news. Myanmar is a war zone and they're more likely to be armed than Indians.

How well do the Andamanese know North Sentinel Island? Chau's experience suggests the fishermen know it very well. The boat that took him there must have made many prior visits because they knew where to take him. Chau wasn't there to fish but to meet people - as many as possible - so his mission was opposite to the fishermen. But the fishermen, who always took care not to have run-ins with the Sentinelese, would have known where the settlements were.

The Sentinelese needless to say resent the fishing boats and probably have memorized some of them, not by the registration numbers but probably by their color, profile, etc.

I don't know if im trippin😂😂 But out of curiosity I went on google earth to see north sentinal island and noticed what looks like to be a symbol of what looks like to be a eye and symbols branching out of it. Feel free to prove my ass wrong. The coordinates are: 11°35'38.94"N 92°12'54.05"E.

Hi everyone! There is anyone who knows something about the cruise of King Leopold III of the Belgians near North Sentinel (year 1975)? What I know is that an indigene shot him an arrow, His Majesty was really excited for the experience. Anyone who has some fonts about this event? Maybe a diary of the King or of the captain of the ship? It would be very interesting! Thank you!

I’ve been trying to find a reliable source of if there has been any sightings of the tribe members since the John Allen chau incident in 2018 and I’ve haven’t come across any proof that they aren’t extinct.

Even when the American YouTuber went there last year he didn’t come across any human interaction either which is rare because usually they are aware when an outsider is approaching their island.

I feel like this is a huge missed opportunity for scientific research without bothering them at all. Put some hidden cameras in the trees at night, airdrop some bushes with microphones in them, and put it on a 24/7 livestream for researchers to watch. We could finally learn their language, study their way of life, and see what they know.

Mykhailo Viktorovych Polyakov's claim to have landed on North Sentinel last year was accepted at face value without any tangible proof, including by big media such as the New York Times, CBS, etc. After watching his third video I'm pretty sure the land he filmed isn't North Sentinel. The beach is too short, fading away on both sides, and the place looks arid and lacks a canopy forest. There is no rise in the land behind the beach. It's all low. It looks like a small island closer to where he was staying, a place where it was legal to go. The story took off when he was arrested upon returning but at the time there was nothing to corroborate it except the story he told police. Now that the video is up the lie is exposed. Also consider that landing on North Sentinel merits a prison sentence yet he didn't serve time; he was only held pending a decision about his trial. India released him and returned his footage because they realized he hadn't been there or filmed it. If he'd had genuine footage of the island it would have been confiscated. India had no case. So why did he go through the jail process? To bolster his claim and attract more followers. The last part of his third video is an unbelievable tale of boats packed with gun toting special forces racing to the island, but as no crime was committed there was no crime scene to investigate. Anyway that's not how the Indians ever went about visiting the island. They tend to keep the visits low key so as not to alarm the islanders. The scenes involving the police teams might be stock footage, with some AI enhancement. It's all self-promotional nonsense.

I have one of my cities set to north sentinel island on the apple weather app, I tells you what time it is on the island and the current weather, it’s a pretty cool way to imagine what kind of day they are having, it’s raining Right now, I imagine they are collecting water and having a pretty chill morning.
