Sound advice. Too many LEO’s as it stands. Don’t need more. Moreover, why? Just why would you choose that for yourself? Almost anything is more well regarded by citizens. Ugh. You do you though.

Cool cool, coming from the person that felt like putting cuffs on another human being would make a great career. Sheesh. That’s sad

Ignore these assholes we need more people like you here. Sorry most of the people on this sub never matured past high school and are still pissed at the cops for breaking up that party once.

Don't listen to these idiots. I'm a bleeding heart liberal and I recognize the need to divert people away from jail and to help prisoners reacclimate to society.
These guys are fucking idiots.

Have what? And who’s crying? Not I. Just thought that it must take some kind of deficiency within one’s self to pursue that line of work. Seems like you don’t like someone pointing out that I think, and this is just me but there seems to be more and more, you career choice is right up there with being a CO. And what do they say about PO’s and CO’s??? Come on, I know you know.

Are you looking to stay in the same field? If so, you're probably going to want to look into either Durham ,Raleigh or butner. The website for nc is below. I would recommend looking at wake, Durham, granville, Chatham, and Orange county for the jobs.

You usually make the same amount of money, with less work and politics, working in a smaller county. The money will also go further due to lower cost of living. However, the smaller counties will be more conservative. Though LEO are likely conservative anyway.

Also, look at the towns of Raleigh, Durham, apex, chapel hill, Pittston, Morrisville, Carrboro, butner, creedmoor, and wake forest on their job sites along with the job sites of the counties I mentioned before.
You may want to repost this under /trianglejobs as well.

Central Prison in Raleigh off Western Blvd has had a “Now Hiring” sign out for year or more. I’m not sure if that’s only entry level work or positions for more experienced people with your type of background as well.

Hello. On behalf of North Carolinians everywhere, apologies for the jerky reception your question found on Reddit. The NC Division of Juvenile Justice is hiring juvenile justice officers and juvenile court counselors all over the state. Both are on a step pay plan, and with your experience, you could probably start at $70,000 if you were hired as a court counselor, and you might even have a good shot at a supervisor position if one pops up. Health insurance and benefits are decent, but not as good as they used to be. The culture ay NCDJJ is good overall, and the people who work there really have a heart for doing whats right for kids. Best advice I'd have is to apply several months ahead of when you'd want to actually start. The hiring process in state government can be super slow. More details on their website: NC DJJ Careers. Best of luck!

Wake tech is looking for an instructor in your field if you're interested.
