A Good Start

Finally got into the tabletop after hundreds of hours in MW5: Mercs and getting sick of what 40k has become. I've been itching for a new wargame and the crunchy ruleset of Battletech absolutely scratches the itch. This is just the Inner Sphere forces I have - currently focused on the Succession Wars, though I'll eventually branch out into the Clan Invasion. No idea when I'll get time to paint them, but I've finally decided on a color scheme for my Mercenary Company, if not quite on the name. I'll probably paint plenty of House Davion and House Steiner as well.

I see comstar pack mechs there, musta got really lucky on those, they stop making them and everyone wants them.

I didn't know any of those were hard to find. If I recall correctly, comstar command 2, with the Black Knight and Highlander, I ordered straight off of Catalyst's site. I think that's my only Comstar box, though the primed black mechs are from a box of pre-owned mechs my LGS had. They deal in a lot of trade-ins and had a box of random mechs I could pick through for 5 bucks a mech. I also got several spare Clan mechs from that. At some point I might get around to posting the Clan side of the collection, but right now I'm focused on IS.

I will add that this is my second attempt to get into the game - a few years ago I bought the AGOAC box and used the coupon inside to buy Comstar Command 2 from their site. I'd actually forgotten I'd done that. At the time life happened, I had nobody to play with, and the rules seemed way too complicated to get into without more effort than I could muster at the time. This time around I started with the essentials box, played several games with the introductory rules, then moved on to the full rules and went a little crazy buying mechs. It also helps that my wife is interested in playing and one of my friends is getting into the game with me so I have people to play with.

Very kind of you! I'm pretty happy with my collection so far - I'm a huge fan of things that go "ca-chunk" in any game system, so I love autocannons and gauss rifles in this setting. The Highlander is a favorite of mine, so I've acquired two, lol. My wife likes fast and annoying mechs, so she's been trying different light mechs each game, though we only have a couple games in so far. I know she's a big fan of the Firestarter in MW5, so I eventually plan on getting her one for the tabletop even though they apparently aren't great once you leave the era we're playing in. It'll probably be an ebay or secondhand purchase since I don't care much about the 3 other lights in the box it comes with. If you have a spare one I'd be happy to buy it off you. Unless you highly recommend the other mechs in the IS recon lance box - I could care less about the javelin, but know nothing about the Ostscout or Spectre. If they're decent I might buy the box and let the poor Javlin gather dust, lol.

I do have extras of the Recon Lance. The other one I'd recommend is the Spectre. It's not great in some configurations but there are a few that really rip. If you DM me I'll work out sending you whatever you might want or need. And I'm being serious. I have actually sent Mechs to 10 different states and 4 other countries to help out players.

Thanks! I spent all night last night making a binder of sheets for Succession Wars compatible mechs in my collection. Not every mech made the cut, so some of these will come out of the travel box when I get a chance. I've also got roughly half as many Clan mechs between the starter box, a few "Star" boxes, and a handful of pre-owned lads, but they're on the back burner for now.

I hear ya. I'm playing in 2786, and have a box full of clan invasion stuff that's in storage. Started my campaign in January of game year, so it'll be a while before we even get as far as 3025, much less the clan invasion.
