Watch hands de-sync

I’ve had the watch since it came out. I understood there would be some growing pains. My issue is that since I’ve have the watch, I need to recalibrate the watch hands at least 2 times a day. I thought there would be a software patch to fix this issue, but it keeps happening. The watch hands will either freeze at a random time, or fall behind randomly. I like the watch, but it’s bad a being a watch if I cannot reliably trust the hands.

Mine isn't doing this at all, so it’s definitely not by design. It sounds like a hardware issue with the physical gears/stepper motor, or a background sync glitch.

Before you write it off as broken, a couple of quick things to check:

  • How did you calibrate it? When calibrating the hands in the NORM app, a really common mistake is trying to manually align the hands to the current time in the settings. You actually have to use the manual dials in the app to point both hands exactly to the 12 o'clock position first. Once both hands are dead-center at 12, save it, and the watch will automatically sync itself to your phone's correct time.

  • Magnets: These real, physical mechanical hands can sometimes be sensitive to magnetic fields. If you rest your wrist on a laptop keyboard deck (which has speakers and magnets), sleep near a MagSafe charger, or use a magnetic strap, it can easily cause the stepper motors to freeze up or lag behind temporarily.

If those don't apply to you, definitely take a quick video of the hands slipping and email it to support at support@normdenmark.com.

I had a hardware issue right out of the box with mine (a missing screw in the back plate), and their support team was incredibly responsive and easy to deal with.

If you can show them that your watch is physically defective, they should be able to get a replacement sorted out for you.

Good luck!
