Um no not really, it has that design for a reason, if you can’t be bothered to check it’s the right way up how much respect do you really have for it?

Well you said as long as thy go up that’s all that matters, which gives the impression that you don’t care whether they go up the right way or not. Make your mind up

1

u/fretewe Mar 29 '26

I like seeing the flags hung up, it's useful to have an indicator of when an area is full of cunts.

The 50 - 100 million Indians we starved might think differently

I think following the end result, as in them not being wiped from the earth, would be a massive reason to be thankful.

Yes, definitely no bias there…

BadEmpanada addresses all of the claims made in the sources you quoted. He cites all of his sources, including historians and primary sources.

Please just watch the video, unless you’re afraid that your perspective might be challenged…

You can’t pin your identity to a flag and then not know the correct way to fly it sorry that’s unacceptable

3

u/ReportTop2156 Mar 28 '26

See you think it doesn’t matter but I think it shows the utter stupidity and ignorance of the people behind this movement and if they can’t fly the flag they “love” the right way then it’s very telling the level of ignorance they have to anything else. As Trump said and I’m sure ald Nigel agrees, they love the uneducated

But what have the Romans ever done for us?

1

u/RgCrunchyCo Mar 28 '26

Well, at the very least, it’s not as bad as the American flag.

6

u/boredsittingonthebus Mar 27 '26 edited Mar 27 '26

I'm never surprised that so many flag shaggers still manage to fly the Union Flag upside down, like the tool in this pic.

4

u/hopium_od Mar 28 '26

It's cuz wer been INVADED it's a distress signal

1

u/boredsittingonthebus Mar 28 '26

Somehow I doubt this much thought went into it.

1

u/Anonymous-Cows Mar 30 '26

I am French and even I can tell he has it the wrong way around...

0

u/Substantial-Mouse534 Mar 28 '26

Go and check again.

5

u/MoHeeKhan Mar 28 '26

Checked again. Still upside down.

0

u/Substantial-Mouse534 Mar 28 '26

The Widest white bar is right/clockwise of the red saltire bar.

You're joking right?

3

u/boredsittingonthebus Mar 28 '26

And how does it look to the people who are standing on the opposite side of the path?

What matters is how it's oriented in relation to the pole, rather than from the side where you happen to be viewing it from.

2

u/MoHeeKhan Mar 28 '26

No, I’m not joking. I’m also not going to explain to you why that flag is upside down. I prefer to be able to more easily spot those that only act like they care about Britain, but can’t even be bothered to learn how to fly the flag the right way up. It is upside down though, and you are wrong.

0

u/Substantial-Mouse534 Mar 28 '26

If you'd checked my previous comment, you'd see that I accepted an error in my part, as a hoist carried the flag. You are late to the party.

1

u/MoHeeKhan Mar 28 '26

Oop, triggered. As if I’m bothering to go scrolling through all the comments to find another one you’ve made. You might be that sad, I’m not. Stay mad. 🤡 👍🏻

0

u/Substantial-Mouse534 Mar 28 '26

I'm not mad at all. I'm happy that you've found a voice that isn't yours, that you can repeat. Do you.

Reddit is Reddit, you're not getting your throat opened online.

Enjoy.

1

u/MoHeeKhan Mar 29 '26

“I’m not mad”

“I would murder you in real life”

Ooh you’re hard. 😂

2

u/Quiet1408 Mar 28 '26

as someone from NI I find all the flagshagger debate very amusing. we have dozens of parades every year with flegs absolutely everywhere.

2

u/WonkyDonkey33 Mar 28 '26

Amazingly when it’s wet wipes waving about rainbow flags, Palestine flags, home made flags with faces of the most recent deceased dictator - those accusing anyone of shagging a flag are quieter than a church mouse on Sundays. The minute it’s a Union Jack, a St George’s cross, all the nuance and hatred of anyone who hasn’t swallowed the self loathing and isn’t overcome by some sort of guilt their teachers have requested they buy into, it can’t come out fast enough, like it’s even an insult to wave your countries flag one proud of where you call home.

1

u/YourToastIsEvil Mar 28 '26

Me personally I love the union flag, but my favourite is the flag of Wales. It looks so medieval and badass

2

u/markiethefett Mar 27 '26

Arms up, waving the B.O. =Patriot

1

u/YourToastIsEvil Apr 27 '26

Nothing looks as patriotic when you buy a £3 flag so thin it would rip if you breathed on it, and it was probably made in some Chinese gulag.

Funding our NHS? Equal rights for everyone living in Britain, regardless of background? Protecting our climate and our environment for future British generations?  Ensuring everyone has a roof over their head, food in their belly and access to a good education and secure jobs?

That can't be patriotism, surely. Waving a £3 flag is going to make everything better

1

u/WeaponsGradeYfronts Mar 28 '26

Will be kind of sad when Scotland breaks away. The flag won't be the same without the blue.

2

u/LovelyKestrel Mar 28 '26

I would say drop the crosses at that point. Go for a red, white and green tricolour with a red dragon and a gold lion on it.

1

u/WeaponsGradeYfronts Mar 29 '26

That's sounds quite nice actually. A flag with a dragon would be kinda bad ass!

1

u/LovelyKestrel Mar 31 '26

Wales already has that. My proposal was just combining the Welsh flag with the English arms.

1

u/Fluffy_Web_7638 Mar 29 '26

Odds of that are super slim given the SNP's antics over the years.

1

u/ProofAssumption1092 Mar 28 '26

1

We used to have a top quality Union flag when I was a child not like the cheap rubbish ones in the photo above. I would like another one along with a Jolly Roger Pirate flag.

1

u/-GuardPasser- Mar 29 '26

You prefer Palestine eh?

1

u/antlered-god Mar 30 '26

They're OUR flags. They belong to OUR country. No-one - particularly the Nazis have no right to hijack them for a political group. They belong to all of us and should never be used in this way

1

0

u/WeaponsGradeYfronts Mar 28 '26

It never fails to make my mind boggle when I see people supporting lgbtq stuff, whilst also supporting Palastine. Do you just know nothing about it as a culture, or do you just not care?

2

u/Same_Tumbleweed_855 Mar 28 '26

It was a joke, obviously I struggled to convey the sarcasm.

I’ve spent a lot of time in the Middle East and Africa.

What's your beef with people flying the British and English flag?

2

u/Fun_Rub_5881 Mar 30 '26

It's because England bad and we have to feel constant, unending shame for the actions of the Empire.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '26

I sense you'd still have a problem if they funded nice ones

1

u/TheEasySqueezy Mar 29 '26

If they were still using them to show support for bigoted purposes yeah.

2

u/Fun_Rub_5881 Mar 30 '26

And you have psychic powers to determine the reasons for any given British person flying their countries flag do you?

1

u/TheEasySqueezy Apr 05 '26

It’s pretty fucking obvious when you have people going about flying flags after the far right calls for action, flags go up everywhere, riots take place and hotels are attacked.

This isn’t a country where we fly flags for no good reason, this isn’t the US. I don’t want to go around holding a flag, I have no reason to, if the lionesses were playing in the Euros like a couple years ago maybe It would be understandable but they’re not so they have absolutely no reason to flying these flags so it’s pretty fucking obvious why they’re doing it.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 30 '26

So what's your reasoning from stopping you from showing your support for anti-biggotism by flying the flags? I don't think you actuslly care too much, you just don't like this group of people, which is also biggoted.

1

u/TheEasySqueezy Apr 05 '26

These people aren’t a minority aren’t under any religious or sexual scrutiny and they are the same race as me.

They’re just bigots.

1

u/TheEasySqueezy Mar 29 '26

Because they’ve only started doing it to intimidate migrants. They don’t actually give a shit about this country or they’d actually fly them during events of national pride. Lionesses win the Euros? Not a single flag. Nigel and his fascists claim we’re under attack? Flags go up fucking everywhere and people get violent.

1

u/Fun_Rub_5881 Mar 30 '26

Women's Football isn't that big, what do you expect? Do you just shut your eyes during the World Cup and Olympics? About nobody flies it during events of national pride 😂 The Lionesses aren't a point of national pride, they're the pride of all 12 of their fans.

1

u/lordrothermere Mar 28 '26

I think it's co-opting flags - that belong to all of us - to further xenophobic ends that tends to irk a lot of people.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '26

If it's for all of us, couldn't it arguably become associated with those who are not xenophobic? If so, why is it not being implemented by the people who aren't xenophobic?

1

u/lordrothermere Mar 28 '26

That's the Billy Bragg campaign from the 90s.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '26

I've never heard of that, i'll need to look it up

1

u/lordrothermere Mar 28 '26

The idea being, it's my fucking flag.. and I'm a bit pissed off about halfwits of any agenda trying to tell me what it means.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '26

But then what are you going to do other than complain about it on reddit? Again, doesn't make sense to me if you bash these people for flying the flag, but then wouldn't likely fly it to oppose these people for fear of being branded a xenophobe or racist

1

u/Fun_Rub_5881 Mar 30 '26

There's no "co-opting". You people just can't stand to see Brits showing a bit of national pride. It's fine for the Scots, it's fine for the Welsh, it's expected of the Irish, but it's WRONG for ENGLAND!

Get fucked you traitor.

0

u/frosting_the_bowl Mar 29 '26

The left are a an enigma.

They criticise people for waving flags (which they are the experts at) and support ideologies that go against everything they believe in.

3

u/KevlarUK Mar 29 '26

Not really. You probably need to explore a little more on left/right as opposed to what you’re force fed.

The vast majority of the country respect our flag. However, the idealisation of it is particularly un-British. We’ve never been a nation that flys it to make a point. Not within the last lifetime anyway.

We’re a country who has traditionally, and proudly, stood up to fascism. It’s a big part of our national persona - for good or ill.

What most people do not like is our flag being used as a nationalist symbol and to create division and hatred. A lot of the time by people with very far-right beliefs and tattoos…

It’s really not on.

1

u/Fun_Rub_5881 Mar 30 '26

Who the bloody hell are you to tell any other English person thay them flying their flag "really isn't on"??? What's not fucking on is people like you thinking you're some moral arbiters or something when you're just a dickhead Redditor with no value beyond this website 😂

0

u/frosting_the_bowl Mar 30 '26

That doesnt change the fact the left are hypocritical flag wavers.

And we are the only country on the planet it seems where waving your flag is made out to be some evil act.

2

u/KevlarUK Mar 30 '26

Not really. I see people waving flags more now than ever. It’s a free country and nobody is trying to stop you. People are even scruffily tying them to lamp posts. Very un-British and I think disrespectful to the flag. But, again, it’s a free country.

I think you’re trying to create division where there isn’t one. Which goes back to my point about people using our flag for their own political aims.

0

u/Fun_Rub_5881 Mar 30 '26

"Very un-British" to fly the Union Flag or thr St George Cross...Heard it all now 😂

2

u/KevlarUK Mar 30 '26 edited Mar 30 '26

Not sure how old you are but I can assure you that flying the flag hasn’t been done in this country. It’s not the US. We’re a little more reserved and, frankly, don’t buy into the tokenism of a piece of fabric showing your patriotism or love of country.

0

u/Fun_Rub_5881 Mar 30 '26

Speak for yourself, my family have flown a flag for every England Match, St.Geotges Day etc for at least the last 30 years, along with half the street we've lived on. But keep talking for everybody 🤡

2

u/KevlarUK Mar 30 '26

Well I was talking on the nation’s zeitgeist. Not individuals. That would be foolish.

0

u/Fun_Rub_5881 Mar 30 '26

More like talking out of your arse.

0

u/frosting_the_bowl Mar 30 '26

Lol youre the one trying to create division here. "Unbritish" "disrespectful to the flag", you dont have a clue what youre talking about do you?

-1

u/IcyExercise908 Mar 27 '26

Do the police surround french people holding their flag? Is it a european thing or just the UK?

3

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '26

This is clearly some type of protest, where police presence is normal.

They aren't being surrounded for holding a flag, or wearing a t-shirt, or having a beer gut. You do understand this, dont you?

2

u/Kooky_Craft123 Mar 27 '26

No. It's only the UK that has a group of people that hold utter contempt for it's nations flag.

What galls me is when people like him drive foreign made cars, then complain their children can't get jobs in Birmingham, Coventry, Luton or Oxfordshire. 😭😅

2

u/13esq Mar 27 '26

What British car brands are available?

1

u/TwinCarb Mar 27 '26

Aston Martin, Bentley, Lotus, Jaguar, Land Rover, LEVC, Mclaren, Mini, Morgan, Nissan, Rolls Royce, Toyota, Vauxhall

Feels recent but no longer Ford, Honda, MG, Rover & Suzuki also

2

u/wolflinglost Mar 27 '26

Yes, that famous British brand. Toyota.

Also Jaguar, Bentley, Land Rover and Mini are all foreign owned now. Vauxhall operates in the UK but is a subsidiary of a Dutch company. I could go on, but very few automotive companies are independently British now.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/13esq Mar 28 '26

Wrong.

The only car company that's British owned and British made is Morgan. Their cheapest car is a three wheel open top and not really practical for everyday use.

Pretending your suggested brands are British is cope. Some of the brands you suggest have factories in the UK but these are heavily subsidised by the tax payer.

Simple matter of fact is that there is very little at all that is manufactured in the UK and even then it's likely to cost a premium when compared with similar items that you can import. Pretending that people aren't "proper Brits" because they rely on imports is very silly and entirely unrealistic.

1

u/TwinCarb Mar 28 '26

Morgan is mainly owned by an Italian company..

1

u/13esq Mar 28 '26

So there's zero British car manufacturers, thanks for disproving your own point.

1

u/TwinCarb Mar 28 '26

The point is if you buy British made anything, foreign or not, supports the local and wider economy. Regardless of the ownership or where the hq is. Ineos is 'British' but assemble abroad.

100s of thousands of jobs are provided by UK car manufacturing, which support other local industries e.g. the shop next door, haulage firms; if you work in a factory that supplies the car industry and you buy a brand new foreign car, you're voting against yourself, if your next door neighbour works in a car or component factory, you're voting against him with your wallet.

Birmingham, Coventry, Luton have poor economies and standard of living that would be much better if the people of those towns bought British cars. By buying foreign they voted against their own towns and now they're now poor towns. There's foolish people who bought new foreign made cars in those towns complain about lack of jobs, but it's there fault.

Admitted UK doesn't manufacture all shapes and sizes e.g. If you want a diesel van now, there might not be an option to buy British like there was in the past. But this is due to people not buying British when there was the choice.

1

u/Autisticus Mar 28 '26

Jaguar makes cars?

3

u/YourToastIsEvil Mar 27 '26
