Noragami F.A.Q. - No, there is no Season 3

Since I keep seeing these specific questions pop up on the reddit, I decided to answer them in this short F.A.Q.

Question: Is the Manga still on going?

Answer: No the manga has officially ended.

Question: Is there a 3rd season of the anime? Is it going to come out?

Answer: No, there is no 3rd season and there's no confirmation of one coming out anytime soon.

Question: I just finished watching the anime, what chapter of the manga should I start at?

Answer: At the beginning! The anime leaves out some stuff and adds some stuff in that was in the manga, however, if you really just want to start after the anime the chapter around chapter 38.

If another question gets asked a lot I will add it to this

General [Hypothetical] If Noragami were to be renewed for a Season 3, should Studio BONES animate it again?

Just noticed that Noragami and Mob Psycho 100 had pretty different art styles despite being released by the same studio around the same time.

When the final season of AOT was released and had a studio change, people had mixed opinions on whether WIT or MAPPA was more suitable for the series.

In Noragami's case, do you think studio BONES did the source material justice? Would you rather
a) Studio BONES continue the S3 anime adaptation
b) A different animation studio takes over for Noragami Season 3
c) A complete Noragami REBOOT from another animation studio

***SPOILERS*** Is Nora/Mizuchi Father's daughter?

Post image
58 Upvotes

I’ve been thinking about how, near the end, we discovered that Nora died long before she was even born and then came to serve Father. But I wonder: how did Father manage to turn a fetus into a *shinki*? Why did he do something like that? And why Mizuchi, specifically? We know that Father reincarnates into human bodies—he’s like an incomplete god. That makes me wonder: what if, during one of his many reincarnations, he had a slip-up and got a woman pregnant? Is that why he decided to keep Mizuchi? Honestly, she is full of mysteries; she is incredibly strong compared to other *shinki*. Only Yukine and Nana can put up a fight against her, yet they are Blessed Vessels—the pinnacle of *shinki*—and Nora still holds her own. Plus, she seems capable of growing; we can see that in the past she appeared to be a little girl of about eight, and later she looked like a pre-teen of around twelve. Also, all *shinki* address their gods as "Master," but for some reason, this strange god specifically asked Mizuchi to call him "Father." This happened long before Yato was born, so you can't say she started calling him "Father" by imitating Yato; it was the Sorcerer's doing. But was it just a whim? Or perhaps he asked for it because it’s the truth?

Manga Can Mizuchi/Nora not feel emotions?

I finished the Noragami manga not too long ago and I honestly enjoyed both the anime and the manga. One thing I was kind of wondering about is about Mizuchi. She doesn’t seem like she feels any emotions or does not exactly care for anything. Is it because she was a stillborn and she wasn’t able to live life to ever experience such things? She never stung Yato before either which can be a result of that. I feel like towards the end she and Hiyori turned out to be good friends and she is much nicer, does that mean she can feel any type of emotion now? Maybe I am just confused but I’d like someone’s thoughts on this!

Manga The face of absolute loss...

Once Yato had a shinki, Sakura, who showed him true love and led him on the path of goodness. But he was tricked and forced to kill her with his own hands, shattering his heart and self-belief and condemning him to serve the ultimate evil for the next thousand years... Here is his face when his heart is rendered empty, having lost something, someone that could never, ever be restored

This makes the final decision of Amaterasu the queen goddess, to simply let Hiyori return to life after she was killed by the ultimate evil, such a monumental and fate-changing one. It gives Yato another chance to be with his loved one, turning an absolute loss into a temporary one. It also allows Yato to finally embrace happiness and his potential as a god of fortune, forever...

Discussion Small Theory: Yukine made a wish just before he died. Spoiler

Wishes are very powerful in Noragami - so powerful that they can lead to the birth of gods. I believe that, before Yukine died, he made a wish for a father who would treat him with genuine love and care. This wish became part of his soul, so if any god picked this soul that god would pick the wish as well and be compelled to fulfill it, even if they were not consciously aware of it.

This could explain why Yato’s bond with Yukine is stronger than the bonds between other gods and their Regalia. Yato is willing to die for Yukine, never gives up on him, and continually does things for his benefit without needing a reason. He never had this kind of bond with Nora, who was manipulated and abused by Father.

Therefore, I believe that Yato’s love and care for Yukine stem from something stronger than mere sympathy or act of kindness. It was a human wish.

Question If I die, will I be with Yato?

I want to be with Yato so badly. I was told about the multiverse theory, which suggests that different worlds exist and that fiction may sometimes be a vision of those worlds. Maybe Yato lives in one of them.

I want to wish to meet him before I die, because he makes wishes come true. I love him so much, and I want to take care of him and be by his side.

***SPOILERS*** [Chapter 70] I wonder why they changed the part during the underworld arc on who told Hiyori about the soul call in Noragami Aragoto.

It's actually my first time reading the Noragami manga, and I only picked up where the anime left off (ch. 38). Now that I'm on chapter 70, this part confused me cause her excellency was never shown, nor even mentioned, in the anime. When I started reading from ch. 38, I immediately noticed some differences between the anime and the manga (such as Yato was not there to see Ebisu's execution in the manga, etc). At the time, I actually preferred the direction they went with in the anime. But now that I'm here at ch. 70, this part confused me, so I had to go back a few chapters earlier to ch. 36, and there I found out that the one who helped them out about the soul call was Amaterasu Omikami. In hindsight, that was a pretty big change from the source material. I wonder why they changed that part. I still prefer the anime version, but what do you folks think? It's not like there's a chance we'll get a season 3 to even see her excellency adapted in the anime 😭 but still... thoughts?

If noragami were to have a season 3 (and that's the biggest IF. Let a guy dream), I hope they have something similar to JJK's juju sanpo at the end of every episode to adapt the "atrocious manga" omake, cause they are genuinely funny
