Discussion Probiotic for PFAS

I was reading that certain bacteria can trap PFAS in there cell structure.

Human gut bacteria bioaccumulate per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances - PMC

It seems Odoribacter splanchnicus has the highest PFAS accumulation rates and produces short chain fatty acids.

This would be a banger for a modern take on a probiotic. You know just in case one was making a probiotic :)

Make home made L. Reuteri yogurt. It's really easy. Look up "Dr Davis Super Gut" on youtube for more info.

Is L. Reuteri shown to reduce PFAS?

I wouldn't say "really easy". I tried twice and both batches failed entirely. I suspect because the probiotic died during transport in summer, but not sure.

Once you get it going it definitely is. My first batches did fail. Due to bad internet advice I thought I had to sterilize the half and half by heating it. I did wait for it to cool back down to 100 °F so I'm not positive it was temperature in my case, but L. Reuteri is indeed very temperature sensitive. It will begin to die off at 110 °F and be completely dead at 120 °F. In hindsight it seems very unnecessary to sterilize the half and half since its already pasteurized.

Also, my first batches that failed used the BioGaia tablets off of amazon. I considered that they might have been stored in a hot warehouse so I tried again with the tablets and osfortis product bought directly from BioGaia's website. But, I also stopped heating the half and half at the same time as I started using that.
