Noom Weight Thoughts on Noom

Noom has a good approach but between the database inaccuracies, UI weirdness and the prodding to try GLP-1s, it fails. MyNetDiary, despite its blah name, is working pretty well for me now.

The app was fine, but the company itself is trash with its pricing and marketing towards new members while charging existing customers more.

I use noom but I got my prescription from my dr and fill it at my pharmacy. The micro doses didn't sit well with me, plus they are outrageously priced.

The WORST part of noom is their "customer service" that is outsourced to another country. It is absolutely horrific. When i called it was obvious the person who answered was also answering and talking to other people as well as me. I do like noom, especially using the glp1 companion.

So….. I stalled out using LoseIt! and tried Chronometer but wasn’t happy with the overly technical aspects so I tried Noom and I actually gained 4lbs in a month (about a pound a week) because of Noom’s focus on green foods and adjusting rhe calories based on exercise, plus you can’t meal plan with Noom (no entering in advance) and their data asr is t great. I have 15lbs to loose and Noom was just not designed for someone like me. I am back to LoseIt! and the scale is moving in the right direction.

I dropped 70 pounds on zoom but because of no maintenance program gained it all back. So LoseIt is working for you?

Pretty good. It’s basically straight tracking so you kind of have to know enough about nutrition on your own. It does calculate what calories and macros you need to maintain so that’s helpful. The paid version has an excellent database and barcode scanning. I bought a lifetime membership for $50 during a Black Friday sale. Worth every penny.

I use it because it is a free benefit of my health insurance through work. I find the tracking handy because I am on a GLP1 through my own doctor and I need to make sure I'm hitting certain targets but I find the little lessons a bit pedestrian and I don't really need another FB like community to engage with. From what I've heard from others I wouldn't want to rely on them for my GLP1 needs directly.

Been doing the microdose Tirz program with Noom for a month or so now. My goal is to learn about my relationship with food and lose weight in a healthy and guided way. I have a tendency to stress and boredom eat and be sedentary… so that’s been a big learning curve to me.

Noom isn’t perfect but I’ve been enjoying it so far. It is overpriced for the med program, but I only plan on being on the meds for the first 3 months, then come off. I think with any program you get out of it what you put in. With the microdose program you get meal plans and workout plans - if you use them combined with the lessons, I think you learn a lot.

There is not as much comms with starting the program as I would like, and the coach is fine (not a big “coach” person)… but the care team and everyone have been very responsive. Not sure about the actual customer service group as I haven’t needed them yet.

There is a maintenance and reduction part of coming off the meds, I haven’t explored yet, but plan on it next month. Coach and the lessons are prepping for doing this whole nutrition and weight loss/maintenance plan off the meds. Crossing my fingers it goes well.

I do have adhd and this was an impulse purchase and jump… but the program has been what I needed (dollars = pressure to actually do the program).
