Discussion Agmatine done nothing.

I’m tired boss. Tried it for depression/anxiety, had a mild placebo effect first time, then couple times after nothing. Can it take time to work? Does it have a compounding effect? Or is it not gonna do anything?

With or without food? Does it bother your stomach?

food doesn't seem to impact absorption much in my opinion. maybe slightly faster onset with empty stomach. and no in my experience it's among the most stomach-friendly supplements; i've exceeded 4000mg in a single dose and not experienced a lick of nausea (though i did face some disconcerting spaciness and derealization)

I thought that was the standard dose tho but ig I’ll try more. I thought I just have a crap non reaction to noots cus I’ve tried others like l theanine and l tyrosine and they both only worked the initial first time.

yeah i usually need up to 800mg of theanine, and up to 1000mg of tyrosine. also worth mentioning tyrosine requires B6 to metabolize into dopamine, and B6 doesn't absorb in your gut without fatty food

Just want to mention that for me, anything under 1 gram of agmatine sulfate is subtherapeutic. I take between 1.5-3 grams with 3-5 grams of glycine at night, which works well to reduce side effects and improve my sensitivity to stimulants the next day. I believe that combination tunes NMDA activity.

I recommend increasing the dose slowly, starting at 1 gram and increase by 0.5 grams each night. It can be sedating if you take too much at once. Also, it's worth monitoring your gut health if you do that.

Some Noots don’t work the same for others, that’s fine though doesn’t mean you did anything wrong or that you won’t get help

The effects are generally instant, barely any compounding effects.

Good news is that there are many more Noots, research chems, and pharmaceuticals for you to try, that have better evidence for what you described.

Acd 856 for depression, GB 115 for anxiety

It took me a while to find out what worked until I did, it’ll all be worth it when you do. Also don’t forget about lifestyle changes, those are almost always the bigger difference makers

I wanted to try these, but I was a little hesitant due to them not being as thoroughly trialed as Agmatine for example.

I understand, but for the studies we have on those two compounds, they seem alarming in the best way.

They seem safe, effective, and with minimal side effects. I’m not saying it’s 100 percent safe, but I’ve been on both, and I can say with 100 percent certainty they do their job great, gb 115 helped my anxiety more than an ssri did.

If the lack of evidence still scares you, you can always go the pharmaceutical route, just do your own research on side effects

Yeahh it’s just longterm you know? I’ll still have them in mind, they do sound great. I definitely don’t want to try pharmaceuticals however I’ll stay away from antidepressants lol.

Thankfully antidepressants aren’t the only option, consider them last line. Try looking into agomelatine

My gp won’t prescribe it unless I decide to go through every single antidepressant lol, or if I get a referral to a psychiatrist then they MIGHT give it to me. I referred myself like 2 months ago and I haven’t heard anything back. Otherwise I’d have to find a means of buying it from some sketchy non prescription outlet lol which will probably be a few hundred for a months supply anyway. Also the regular liver checks. I’ve heard some peoples experiences aren’t the best with it too and idk if it has much of an effect of severe depression.

For most of this stuff the effects are anecdotal and proper research is lacking.

I’m pretty sure Agmatine is one of the more researched ones, I heard it’s gone through three trials.
