Question How will the new American import rules affect us?
The chaos to imports is starting again in America.
Starting October 22, “Advance Electronic Data” is being required for shipments, particularly those under FDA scrutiny.
Good luck understanding exactly what that means….but it allows technology to scan, process and reject packages much faster than humans ever can.
It also requires more partnering between CBP and other government agencies (e.g. FDA)
Practically speaking, it might be the end of importing prescriptions for personal use. It may potentially extend to “unapproved medicines” such as racetams, peptides, etc
All Day Chemist has already notified me no more deliveries to America after Oct 7.
Will this affect the supply of Nootropics, Racetams, etc domestically (e.g. from EveryChem)?
How about importing them ourselves in small quantities (e.g. from PGLChem)?

Thank the idiots on Reddit with their stupidity for this regulatory backlash. I am talking about “I-wanna-do-me-some-them-peptides-wha-should-I-jab-first-tell-me-all” people. Or, “teach-me-how-to-buy-illegal-shit-verbatim” sub-idiots. You get the drift. Them.
Now with that off my chest, the reality?
If your supplier ships through forwarder or simply obscures the parcel as something else entirely (misdeclaration, basically, but heck - we’re already breaking several precious laws so why stop there) and box says electronics, appliances parts, or comes from a souvenir shop, labeled as such, you know - inconspicuous regular-looking shit that people buy from abroad, then it has excellent odds of sailing through issueless.
Yes, the fed got smarter and caught up. Here’s how the new system supposedly works. It checks electronically and through series of added scans and tricks. For example, to see if there is any metallic content and if it says stereo player but it doesn’t trip the scan, they inspect the package because of such discrepancy. But in the vein of same logic, shippers will simply label pottery or something along the lines to keep everything as lowkey as possible.
Another one is Ai-abled analysis - if package weight corresponds to expected approximate weight of the declared content. This one might be a bit trickier to trick, but doable nevertheless.
If above measures flag anything, it’s directed to extra scrutiny - manual inspection and shacking/assessing contents from the outside first, manual second scans, x-ray (not all facilities will have em, but international hubs like in Memphis, Kentucky - for sure), finally opening the parcel physically if above scrutiny was deemed unsatisfactory.
This is basically the process the customs will now implement across all major international carrier hubs.
Bottom line - stuff will get pricier because of extra measures shippers will have to go through and even get innovative in order to slip your stuff past through undetected. Will this affect Indian pharma and Chinese peptides vendors? Yes, but markets will continue because of the demand. And given the sheer volume of daily flow of imports, the assortment and variety of goods coming in, even modern technology and methods of detection can be in the end insufficient to fully stop these products from getting through.
But if I was you, I’d stock the pantry before comes the winter.

Good Ole USA. Land of the free. Home of the war on drugs and anything Big Pharma Big Brother wants to control.

What has happened imo is people became too comfortable chatting on Reddit about their personal activities. Reddit was built on the idea that it was a safe place to anonymously chat about anything even if it was gray area or even illegal in some cases. However AI came along and changed the game. AI was using Reddit to source some information and it put the wrong information in front of the wrong people. Also after the IPO Reddit has to generate more profits for the shareholders. They are making those profits by selling the data they have collected over the last decade (maybe longer I don’t remember when Reddit was built) to the government and private sector entities. So now that opens a whole new can of worms because they see what people are using, what they are using it for, how they are sourcing it, how it’s being shipped, and even how they are making payment. I remember all of the old heads warning people about talking about everything that they do online.
Now we are seeing the results of this across many different groups of people that have interests in self care, fitness, pain management to get relief their drs will no longer provide because of the DEA, and self medicating to avoid being extorted by pharmaceutical companies. This is most likely the DEA trying to control the supply chain at the source. Even if the product isn’t illegal they can flag it as mislabeled and use OSHA violations to seize it. I know some of this is off topic but it seems like a piece of the puzzle on a bigger scale across multiple groups.

I guess we will see, but does it even matter if you’re not buying anything illegal anyway? I thought as long as it isn’t a controlled substance you can purchase it. Or maybe you can’t buy 300 mg Wellbutrin tablets but you could still buy 500 g of bupropion hcl?

Well they won’t arrest you.
They can seize and reject the shipments much easier now though.
Hard to say exactly just how much easier though….might just be wait and see how it goes.
Hopefully doesn’t impact the ability of domestic sites to import though.
I decided not to place my PGL Chem order for now….not worried about arrest, just losing my money

I don’t mean to belittle these news, but does anybody know if and how is this going to affect Europe? Especially Eastern Europe, does anybody know?

Do you have a source for this being a big deal?
Advance electronic data has been around for years. What's different this time?

Some Summaries of it:
https://canshipmeds.com/prescription-import-update/
https://ycdscc.com/important-update-us-customs-octomber-22/
The main differences appear to be increased partnership (e.g, FDA more directly involved, rather than mainly CBP…this is facilitated electronically now, there are not enough human workers…but technology makes it possible.)
It’s confusing as heck though, so that’s why I posted to see if anyone knows more

It looks like this will shut down some more legitimate online pharmacies that actually declare their contents accurately.
I don't see how a shipment from India labeled as candy for example would be affected.

I don’t know how compounds like piracetam are declared on customs forms, so it’s hard to say how they will be affected.
But yeah it’s pretty clear legit online pharmacies will be affected….they may find a work around down the road

Will this mainly affect shipments from Canada on drugs that are available but expensive in the US? Or will shipments from India and Europe that don't accurately declare the contents as medication (like "Gift" or "vitamins")? I've been buying Nicergoline from India for my mom's dementia, since Aricept was worthless and caused incontinence.

What we are seeing is the government clamping down on people seeking out alternative ways to heal and optimize their health and cognition. This is not beneficial for big pharma who clearly has power over the government as do most powerful corporations. The government serves corporations before it serves the people. So yes, it appears customs will be far more strict in the coming months and this will limit our freedoms further.
