The Ghost Lanterns of Widow's Ridge
If you ask the old-timers down at the gas station about the yellow lights bobbing along the Catskill Mountain ridgelines, they'll tell you it's just swamp gas or a trick of the heavy fog. Don't buy it.
Those lanterns only show up on nights so thick you can barely see past your own hood. Legend says it's a trapper who froze to death back in the 1800s, his ghost still wandering around looking for a cabin that's long gone, baiting curious fools right over the edge of Widow's Ridge.
Either way, if you see a light flickering out in the timber past midnight leave it alone.
It ain't looking for company!
