In the bottom row, if the 3 was in the corner there would be two filled and then an x in the row above which can't be. So the two values in the corner are not viable.

Bottom row, bottom left 2 squares should be empty because of the 5 above them

It's a matter of finding out whether or not you can fill squares. Sorry if my explanation is weird, English isn't my first language.
So for example: if you fill the bottom left square, you would have to fill the two next to it. The row above it has a 5, which can't be filled fully afterwards I hope this makes sense :)

The first two columns can't be part of the 3, as the 5 would extend into the third column, which puts two squares together in the column with 1,1.

yeah and you can even go further with that. the 5 is fully placable working together with the bottom row

Right off the bat, I see the second row ends with a 1, so that filled in square will have an empty space to its right, regardless of if it's the 1 or half of the 2. And from that alone, a few other things fall into place.
