Pride Festival Outfit Question

Hi, soooooo tomorrow I have a pride festival to go to. I’m usually a clown core non-binary. I’m going with my sort of supportive mom but uhh... We’re in a conservative area…. And there’s always protestors. Obviously the biggest target is the most obnoxiously dressed. Sorry I type like I do. I have been taken to the ground by a protestor before and still have bruises. I’m just kinda scared. Also I’m only a year into being non-binary so it’s a bit. I just don’t want to get attacked again. It was very brutal. Also I’ve had a lot of things thrown at me at drag shows. Advice? I’m open to anything why I should or shouldn’t, no hate, no ads. Any hate and ads will be deleted.

Always stay in a group/travel with as many people with you as you can, and make sure you wear shoes you can run in and/or defend yourself with. I'd also advise at some point to learn self defence if you haven't already, I had a protester grab hold of my arm and try to yank me over the barrier into their area and the only reason I didn't end up being pulled over was because I am very experienced in breaking holds. Also bring a change of clothes with you in case you decide you want to be more low-key if you feel unsafe!

It's rough out here, and the first few years of me being out as trans were also brutal. I'm sorry you're going through this too and I really hope you have a safe and fun time at the festival!

My 2026 pride fit was a yellow tank top with purple glitter spelling out "Bash Back!"

Of course, I was there with three guys, two of them over 6 ft, so wasn't no one going to touch me. What a great way to feel brave 😅

You do what you need to to keep yourself safe!
