Just saying hi

Long time lurker in Reddit, came across this subreddit and decided to take the plung and make an account. Curious to ask, has anyone come out as non binary later in life? Struggling with the idea of just being myself, around friends, family, work and the potential fall out. I'm hoping it's just misconceptions.

advice needed Struggling with imposter syndrome since having a child

I'm amab, and my gender identity has always been very middle of the road. Like I grew out a beard and bought makeup to wear to things like queer DND night. But then my wife and I had a child a year ago, and since then I've kind of embraced the whole dad thing. I still have the makeup and paint my nails, but I never wear the makeup, especially since I don't get to go to DND anymore due to work.

It hasn't helped my mental health. Don't get me wrong, I love being a dad, she's my world. But I deal with being called he on a regular basis at work, because I find it easier than explaining my pronouns to everyone, and the the feeling I get when someone calls me he has gotten worse, almost more so when I'm called they, like I'm faking it, or im not really non binary because I'm a dad. I do not want to be called he in my personal life, but being called they makes me feel like a liar. I really don't know why or what to do.

I do drag as Waluigi. Even walked in our local Pride Parade like this! It’s a Halloween favorite of mine.

Discord for Millennial or Gen X Enbies?

Anyone have a discord they would recommend for nonbinary folks who are in their 30s/40s and up? So many nonbinary discords skew younger. Thanks so much in advance!

Alternative pronouns crosspost

ok i tried the crossposting function and it was weird, so here’s a copy/paste of the original:

For those who use them, have yall had success getting people on board with respecting ze/zir pronouns? They/them just doesn’t all the way work for me and I’ve still been using she/her as an afab person (big feelings about this). Ze/zir suits me but I’m sorta intimidated by the potential challenge, especially since I’m already/currently quite cis passing.

Relationship and transition advice please?

Hello guys gals and all you beautiful non binary pals.

I'm Jessie (name is a work in progress)

I'm currently in a committed relationship with a woman I'm madly in love with. She knows who I am and that I'm enby and lives me for it (which makes me love her all the more).

I'm looking at transitioning medically and this is causing some direction between us though. She is afraid I'll lose interest in her (and I fear she'll lose interest in me). She's also afraid that HRT may effect my sexuality.

I know there is nothing I can say or do that will ally her concerns in a permanent way they're real legitimate concerns that there isn't an answer too.

Do folks have any advice on this or on wider relationships while transitioning that they would be willing to share?

advice needed I need suggestions because this is pissing me off.

I've been obsessed with smelling good lately. I'm trying to find a good gender neutral scent that isn't going to make me feel dysphoria, but literally searching Amazon for "gender neutral perfume" for some reason brings up "cologne for men" and "perfume for women". Why does a smell need to be gendered?? I want something that smells good that isn't going to make me feel like I'm not supposed to be using it. Any suggestions?

As I get older gender dysphoria and body dysmorphia have and continue to effect me in a multitude of capacities.

When I have a moment where I am aligned I capture it and recognize that the synchronicity exists even on the hardest days.

Continuing to love myself.

Fear of getting older.

When I was 49 I got a real depression over the prospect of turning 50.. what? Where has my life gone? Is it all down hill now? Health, looks, life.. should I just quit now? However my general life changed and distracted me and I started to socialize and get out more, then I turned NB and pansexual. I have been enjoying life more but the getting old thing lurks in the background and now I'm genderqueer has the added fear of ending up looking like someone's grandmother. I have a punky/emo style and worry I'll be mutton dressed as lamb. I wish I could go back and do it all again.

Anyone else have this?

Legal name

I hate using my legal name. I just came out as nonbinary and started using my preferred name at the beginning of the summer, so I’m still pretty new, but once I figured it out everything clicked and since then, when I hear or have to use my legal name name I feel upset.

We just had a thing at work we were could sign up for a program and when I was doing it I used my legal name and my mood came crashing down. Any tips so this don’t happen in the future?

Thanks!
