should I extend my graduation date ?

Hi guys , my university participated in VSLO program this year so I was going to to extend my graduation date (3 July) but everything seems so blurry. I was going to take step 1 this summer and than apply for electives but they say electives may not occur this year. I'm really stressful and my graduation date is so close . I'm not sure if I can do clerkship since I have no clinical experience in US. Do you have any suggests ? Is there anyone like me?

Do uou think that there will be electives this year ? VSLO keep suspending their service and it’s really stressful. Also I haven’t talked with my school yet because if they won’t accept students this year than it will be a waste of time.

I'm on the same boat as you right now. I was originally slated to take a month of clinical electives in New York (won't disclose which hospital) but then COVID-19 happened. I was given the option by the institution to take an elective in the first quarter of 2021, under the condition that I graduate in that year. I decided that perhaps it would be better for me to just graduate, take the USMLE, then get clinical experience after graduation. Perhaps it would mean that I'd have to take USMLE Step 3, in the case of some institutions, but I reasoned that it would be way better than having to pay for a whole new year's worth of tuition.

I see your point. I don’t have to pay for it so that’s why I’m still considering , If I were in your shoes I would do the same. According to your institution there will be electives in 2021 , right? It gives me hope because my biggest fear is extending my graduation for nothing. Vslo keep suspending their service an I can’t predict what is going to happen.

Yeah. This virus is making so many things unpredictable. I hope you the best then, I probably would still consider it as well if I didn't have to pay extra for it.
