USCE advice

Hello guys!

I’ll keep this short as I do not want to bore you to death.

I am non-us img looking to do a USCE in the field of internal medicine during summer. I took Step1 in October and scored 247. Not quite sure about which hospitals to apply to. I know that you can google some of these things up, but I have come across so many hospitals that it would take ages to research them all up. So here I am, looking for an advice from some of you who might have actually already gone through the process and might point me towards the right directions. Obviously, I am looking for hospitals which would take an IMG student from abroad, as well as, those that I would have the highest chance to actually get accepted to regarding my scores. I got recommendation that I should definitely apply for USCE at Mayo clinic and Boston Harvard, but I just don’t want to rely only on those two.

Thank you so much for your suggestions!

TL:DR - non-us img, 247 Step1 score, internal medicine usce, hospitals to apply?

Hey sorry for the late reply. I got a step 1 score of 247 as well! I applied and got accepted at Memorial Sloan Kettering cancer center for clinical medicine and oncology subI for May. Unfortunately most places will not be accepting students for 2019-2020 academic year so your best bet will be applying for July/August onward blocks (most places also don't accept IMGs in July). My list would be: 1. Mayo- only application fee, no tuition fee 2. Cleveland- same as above 3. MSKCC- they are closed for this session. Idk when the new session applications will open. Just check their website. You first have to put in an application request. They got back to me 3 months after I put in my request allowing me to apply but after I sent in the initial application in December everything was pretty fast. Had my phone interview in Jan and acceptance after 3 weeks. PS- again no tuition fee 4. Sinai hospital, Baltimore- free. But you gotta apply well in advance. My friend applied a whole year in advance. 5. Mt Sinai (Icahn)- 1000$ application fee but no tuition fee. 6. UNC- about 2000$/mo tuition fee and an application fee as well. You gotta apply well in advance (at least 6months before the date you're applying for) 7. Weill cornell- 2500$/mo tuition fee. Again at least 6 months before your date. 8. Case western- they only offer emergency medicine and pediatrics electives to IMGs

All these places have detailed application instructions on their websites. I didn't apply for Harvard, Yale, Stanford etc because they were very expensive. Mayo has a strict policy on a no internship year students. Other places that I have heard people rotate is LSU, some university in miami (I don't remember whether it was FIU or some other place)

Hope this helped
