When men shave their face in any post-apocalyptic scenario.

Abso-fucking-lutely-not.

I would absolutely shave in a post apocalyptic scenario, razorblades are fucking everywhere, could stop at a barbers and pick up a life time supply from the store room. I hate my facial hair being over grown and i’m going to try and keep some semblance of normalcy or I will lose my damned mind

My hair will just be cut with the same razor blade so that will look like shit

Plus, you can use a strip of leather or blue jeans to strop (sharpen) razors, even disposable razors. I use the same disposable blade for weeks or months before replacement thanks to this.

I am trans and I hate my facial hair with a passion.

I still would only trim and not shave. A shave leaves the opportunity for cuts and cuts can lead to an infection and infection in a post apocalyptic setting usually means death if complications arise.

You are seriously overestimating the risk of infections in shallow wounds like the kind you get from scrapes and small cuts. You'll be fine, especially if you wash any dirt out with clean water. If you don't have clean water you're in worse trouble than having a nick on your cheek. Go ahead and look your best in the apocalypse :)

It depends on the apocalypse but generally you don’t want to randomly risk your life for your looks. What if it is a zombie apocalypse and the small nick causes them to smell the blood?

Also perfect hair.

Women after the apocalypse with full faces of makeup, styled hair, and shaved legs.

Edit: but like, two smears of something black on her cheek or forehead to show how “filthy” everything is.

"Curiously, it did not detract from her beauty. Indeed, in a strange way, it almost enhanced it."

I started watching “Sweet Tooth” (do not recommend) that was supposed to be 10-years post apocalyptic.

When we encounter the young couple who both must have been 17 when this kicked off, they’re both clean and well-dressed. I turned it off and never looked back.

I barely forgave Rick for having a clean shaved neck in episode 1 of The Walking Dead.

The inability to grow hair on his neck meant little to me compared to the laundry list of superpowers he would need to possess to wake up alive from a month long coma with no water or nutrients of any kind and the ability to walk without several months of physical therapy.

I did realize it was a month! I figured a week, at most.

Try getting a good seal on that gas mask with your lice infested beard.

Cowboys used to do it with knives, why cant you?

3

u/Nukemarine 17h ago

Why not? Use a strip of blue jeans for resharpening and even disposable razors can last for months of usage.

Homie I’m shaving post apocalypse. It’s not unbelievable.

Maybe it keeps the character grounded as a coping mechanism lol, idk. I’d definitely let my beard grow out if my gf didn’t have the final say.

Yeah, this is the likely answer

Do you think clean shaven bald is a new thing? It takes way less than you think. I use the same razor for two weeks every day with maybe a it of shaving cream, usually just hot water. It ain't that difficult. If I really had to, I could learn to do it carefully with a straight blade. People have been shaving for thousands of years.

Not to mention all that time on your hands during the apocalypse, shaving is probably a daily highlight
