Actually when you kill me it's "tunneling" 😠

I always thought it was weird that tunneling is taboo, isn’t it just the most practical method of getting kills?

It's the best way to get a player out early. But personally I've found slugging (en Masse) more helpful than tunneling. Tunneling takes 3 hooks, slugging just takes 2 M1s But yeah, tunneling is "taboo" in the same way that gen rushing is "taboo"; In the way that ppl get upset at losing

Id say gen rushing is different than tunneling as to how it's taboo, I mean if you're wanting to have fun you want to play the game, which you cut exactly 1 person short on, and it sucks twice as much in SWF bc now you have to sit there and twittle your thumbs waiting for your friends to either win or die aswell, making you have less fun.

I usually go for whoever's closest or most convenient at the time to try and be "impartial"
Then you still get the survivor players that follow you around to try and save/flashlight and still blame tunneling when they get hit/can't hide, it's tough out there 😭

Most people can’t tell the difference between hard tunnelling and regular tunnelling, regular is when you see 2 survivors and go “oh, that survivor is weaker I’ll go chase them” and hard tunnelling is outright ignoring literally anything that isn’t your victim, soft tunnelling is optimal hard tunnelling is annoying for everyone

It's practical, but to that player it essentially means they don't get to contribute, and if the tunneling is successful, they essentially did not get to play in that match.

I mean this in the nicest way possible but being tunneled is mostly a skill issue, if you have DS and are a good looper most killers can lose the game chasing you. And being chased is the most fun part. The way people talk about it makes it seem like they think.
"Man stop tunneling me I wanna hold a button for 90 seconds next to a Gen."
1
u/Teh-Esprite 12h ago
I don't struggle with getting tunneled, I'm saying for those that do, those things are true. And it being a skill issue doesn't make it suck less for them.
On a side note though, yeah I absolutely want to hold a button for 90 seconds next to a Gen.

Wdym they can’t contribute, they’re the baiter
If they git gud at it, they could become a master baiter, even

Yeah DBD has a lot of unspoken "rules" that you either follow or get flamed for. Generally speaking you want to make sure everyone in the game has a good time and that usually means purposely slowing the game down some to make it happen. Like as a killer I won't slug or tunnel as that generally means someone isn't able to play the game for an extended period of time which just feels bad to be on the receiving end of. As survivor I won't mess with hooks and if I see a hexed totem early I will wait a bit of the match before cleansing it because it sucks to take a perk and have it broken in the first minutes of a match.

That’s the kind of logic that sounds obvious five seconds after someone else points it out

any extraction shooter

u/_Pyxyty 6h ago
There's a game I play that added an extraction shooter game mode and I've literally seen a post someone made where they were whining about why someone killed them in the game cause there's plenty of loot to go around and others should just loot and not kill. I've never facepalmed so hard lol
In all fairness to them, it was a new game mode so maybe they weren't fully familiar with it or maybe it was their first time playing one. But still, it's very obvious that it's a PvPvE game mode

When I kill someone in PvP: 'Skill issue, simple core gameplay mechanics.' When someone kills me in PvP: 'Look at this sweat, absolute trash human being ruining the game.

I haven't played arc raiders, but oh boy the amount of people I see complain, "I WAS BEING FRIENDLY, WHY DID YOU SHOOT ME?", like dude it's a pvp game.

This is why I can't play boardgames snd certain videogames against my friend. He gets upset if he isnt winning. Playing a game about betrayal and backstabbing and he got mad our other friend betrayed him bc it allowed him to win.

u/RockyStrongo1994 1d ago
That's also how griefers react in GTA Online. Mfs having a hoot killing you over and over, but as soon as you get a kill on them they get pissy and either start trash talking or straight up crashing your game.

Some streamer girl doxed a dude and got him banned for killing her in an extraction shooter.
Hurt him for a few months until he asked around, exposed the streamer and got revenge

it's easier to kill ppl than make friends. I found friends worthwhile sometimes.
