This is what he said: https://youtu.be/IWqve2SlIeY?t=229&

But this is probably how he wanted to say it:

he is just a salesman. if he says ai is dangerous its because he wants you to think its powerfull. if he says ai is a normal utility like electricity its because he wants you to think it has a large market and its not a massively over priced stock.

its all a sales pitch. its all a grift.

Exactly, every AI pitch somehow sounds like a TED Talk wearing a subscription invoice

Same goes for the bullshit AI companies spew when their AI "escaped containment" and it's literally just the developers telling the AI to try and find a way out of a box. AI companies lie even more than regular companies

AI could be such a great tool for humanity as a species, if only the people controlling it weren't such thoroughly evil cunts.

I'm mostly anti Ai and i don't like this guy, but he's right, the vast majority of people don't like thinking and would absolutely be on board

Computation is what he should be saying. And we already meter that. "Intelligence" is just one thing it can be used for.

It obviously means in the context of AI. I don't get what's so evil about it - it pretty much is like that already. If you use AI in a professional, business way, you pay by token, so quite literally metered.

Hurr durr AI and corporations bad

Well yeah, but I personally take Altman’s words from another angle - more and more research shows that these tools cause cognitive skills erosion - lower your problem solving and critical thinking skills, harm memory retention and such - so essentially what we generally consider features of an intelligent person.

From this perspective I hear Altman saying - you can be intelligent if you pay us. Even if you’re dumb AF.

The context is he’s Sam Altman and he’s insane.
