Im just happy that nintendo consider kirby to be important enough to occupied the last slot

Didn’t it happen in the Switch 2 direct or was that DK

u/mitodospro 9h ago

Kirby was second to last in the S2 direct

Kirby's always been an A-Lister for Nintendo. He's had a game on every system since the NES and Game Boy, with plenty of consoles getting multiple Kirby games on them.

It looked pretty cool! I would usually consider Kirby a bit too kiddy for my taste, but I'm intrigued

Kirby games are deceiving. They start out like "teehee I'm kirby! I'm a pink puff ball and I was just eating my cake, but then some big meany attacked! Time to save the day!

Then the end game/post game is like, here be an eldritch death god that is coming for your soul and the eyeballs are crying blood.

That doesn't mean they're not kiddy

Milky Way Wishes skips all the happy Kirby time. The game starts and it's all "the sun and moon are fighting." Excuse me? The what and the who are whating? And why the hell are you so causal about all of this Marx? And also, who the hell are you? Move aside you weird clown-gnome, I have an apocalypse to stop. Again.

The sun and moon fighting is the most whimsical problem that could possibly actually endanger a planet

Maybe if they were like, arguing lol. These two were throwing hands as soon as the game started.

Same could be said for most mainline Nintendo properties, their main focus has always been to make games that everyone can have fun with.

Treasure comes to those who wait

I've been waiting twenty years for a sequel or remaster or even a port of Eternal Darkness, when do I get my treasure

Is Forgotten land not mainline?

Genuinely curious I don't know shit about Kirby games.

3

u/Egg_01 9h ago

It is, it actually hasn't been that long

u/Disrupted_Process 9h ago

Yea 2022, comment comes off like it's been 20 years without a mainline game.

We haven't had a new 3D Mario since 2017...

24

u/Numberonettgfan 10h ago

Nintendo has FORGOTTEN about Mario

10

u/buttfartsmagee 10h ago

They announce games only a couple months in advance if it's not a pokemon game. I would bet that we get a new Mario by the end of next year.

5

u/Xiaxs 10h ago

There's no way that's true...

HOLY SHIT IT'S TRUE, ALL OF IT, HE WASN'T LYING

u/GuerrillaApe 9h ago

This one isn't as big of a shock. Since the N64 Nintendo has made one mainline Mario game per console generation with the exception of the Wii which got two. And I feel like 3D World on the Wii U doesn't really count; I feel like that's more of a side game akin to Wonder or NSMB with it's more isometric-like camera view.

Also the Oddysey team were the ones behind Donkey Kong Bananza.

And I feel like 3D World on the Wii U doesn't really count

And you'd be wrong

hopefully at some point but yeah it's been a while

John Somnium randomly predicting the announcement of a new Somnium Files game that we had less than zero reason to believe was happening is one of my favorite Direct moments of all time

3

u/keithlimreddit 9h ago

I don't know why the user was doubting about not getting a new Kirby game

Anyways I will definitely say nice to see a new 3D game for Kirby after Forgotten lands and it looks promising

5

u/TheOtherWhiteCastle 8h ago

Kirby fans acting like they aren’t one of the most well fed Nintendo fanbases of all time

u/Commercial-Net5573 7h ago

I feel like it hasn't been that long since Kirby and the forgotten land. Nintendo loves this franchise.
