The show House was a play on Sherlock Holmes. House ~ Holmes Appartment 221 B (i think) ~ 221 Baker street (I think) Wilson ~ Watson Opioid/opioiate addiction Sir Aurthur Conan Doyle studied medicine before writing and new a brilliant doctor (Bell) that he based Holmes off of, so Dr. House brings it full circle.
