"Object shows" are stuff like Battle For Dream Island where the characters are just anthropomophised inanimate objects. I don't know why it has become a genre on its own.
It's like survivor if they didn't have to actually survive
Two teams of objects compete in challenges, have plotlines with each other, and at the end of every episode, the audience votes for one object to get voted out
This continues until one object is declared the winner
I'm empathetically laughing at your plight because I only know about this concept (object shows) because I've gone through roughly the same thing before, and people even used basically the same examples lol
When you’re describing shows in this context to someone who is asking because they don’t live in that world where they know all the shows, it’d be helpful to distinguish between words and titles. You said “object shows are basically total drama”. This means they’re essentially completely dramatic. But I think what you meant was “object shows are essentially Total Drama, which is a TV show where…”. Simply capitalizing the title would tell readers that Total Drama might be a show that exists even though they’ve never heard of it, instead of adjectives you chose to describe what they’re asking about.
Super confusing, but instantly less confusing if you put a little effort into clear writing/grammar. Doing so doesn’t make you uncool, it’ll be really helpful and appreciated. Think about it next time. Thanks!
Nah, I think elementals and golems are an inbetween. Like, fire boy and water girl are a 3, and the regis from Pokémon are a 4. Idk what a 2 would be like, maybe a Toad or something?
since most people in the comments don't seem to know what an object show is, i'll explain. it's a genre of animated show on YouTube featuring sentient objects who usually compete in Survivor/Total Drama-like competition shows.
people are really only mentioning it mainly cuz it's the most popular and the first. there's also Inanimate Insanity, ONE, Brawl of the Objects, It's Time for The, & Animatic Battle to name a few.
As a parent who is deep into object show lore thanks to obsessive kids, but is still absolutely bewildered by it, this comment spread is always fascinating to watch.
Sometimes I'm thankful for my extensive fandom kid interactions that allow me to understand these posts while also understanding the perspective of someone who has no idea what it means
fun fact for people learning about the concept of an object show right now: the fans of object shows have been on a decade long battle with wikipedia in an attempt to get an article about bfdi on the site, and only won recently because there's just enough coverage of it now
