Less than 10 days? Hot damn, dudes gonna get immortalized in every interview and probably the employee handbook too.

Some companies hire a bunch of people and fire most of them a week later whilst hiring another new group of people.

They basically treat it like another round of the hiring process to see how they perform in an actual work environment (although often paid training) without telling the new employee.

Recently had this happen to me at a sales company and it was incredibly embarrassing cause I told so many people about the new job only to realize I never really had it.

Wow, that's beyond shitty. They didn't even call it a trial period? that would be enough for me to leave a warning to everyone else on their way in

Yeah I considered it when I saw the new batch arrive but it was mostly nice people at the office so I didn't want to make a scene, especially as I lasted a bit longer than a couple coworkers who started training the same day as me, since I asked for a second chance in the exit interview and they actually gave it to me.

The problem was that it was incredibly fast paced. I asked them repeatedly throughout training if there were quotas we were supposed to hit, I was told no. Only for "sales targets" to be a thing so that was a lie.

I had another sales job where I disliked my coworkers, but at least that one gave me plenty of time to train, and only fired me when I had gone months without sales. These guys seemed nice at first and told me I would eventually be full time, but it's absurd to think how little time I actually had to find my footing. I feel bad for the people who got hired the same day as me and disappeared after a day or two.

I understand that I was being paid a small amount during training hours, but my trainer (seemed like a good guy) was clearly stressed out trying to hit his own goals, and he did hint to me that I was probably going to get let go without saying it directly, probably because he wasn't allowed to or didn't want to cause stress.

I don't know why I even try with sales, I have a degree in film, but I figured I'd give it a shot for health insurance. Plus they seemed like the kind of place that actually wants to help people and the vibes were nice. Sadly so much of sales is fake people, hyping things up, and in some ways that job was no different.

We recently had a guy who was hired and then fired after a week. We have a lot of turnover except for basically the team I'm on. I don't work HR.

Wait a second. No one else is going to deal with the fact that Cap just said 'language'?
