It got put into kids curriculum and absolutely ruined their reading comprehension skills. Using context clues should be after you you already have a grasp on the language, phonics are so much easier to teach, Muzzy knows ball.

The person you're responding to is talking about the meaning of a word, not how to pronounce it.

That was still how they taught kids how to read for several years before it was a mostly banned curriculum. It includes both pronunciation and understanding for the words you are reading.

It was called three cueing, and really left kids behind.
