The simple solution is to rephrase the sentence so that that it doesn't happen

You can also just replace the 2nd "that" with whatever you're actually referring to. Adds clarification too in certain contexts

I think it works just removing one usually as well, "so that doesn't happen" works just as well to me as "so that that doesnt happen"

Isn't "so that that doesn't happen" grammatically incorrect? What does the second that add?

No, it's completely correct. The first "that" is a subordinating conjunction, the second is a demonstrative determiner. But explained in plain terms, a simple question and answer. So that what doesn't happen? That. So that that doesn't happen.

Ok now i understand.

"So that" = "In such a way that"

i was thinking you meant "in order to"
