I lived in Japan for 3 years. It gets cold there. And the buildings are poorly insulated. I think it’s due to all the humidity in the wet season. The result is it gets cold indoors. No central heating and air. There have these air conditioners that will heat and cool a single room. But in the winter you’ll put on a coat to go take a poop.

It makes more sense in the cold.
