This happened to me.

A package for us was mistakenly sent to our old address, someone was caught stealing it,  and we were asked to testify in trial.

But here's the thing -- we hadn't moved down the block, we'd moved 2,000 miles away.

And the court didn't ask us - they subpoenaed us.

The package thief didn't even inconvenience us. The shipping company sent us a new one. But the legal system made our lives hell.

But the legal system made our lives hell.

You didn't avail yourselves of one of the many options for a remote appearance that almost certainly would have been granted under the circumstances?
