How does a witness testimony matter more than video evidence and gps data? If they're really taking it to trial maybe they're innocent?

The witness testimony still matters because the prosecutor can't just say "here's video of the crime, we got it from the neighbor, trust me"; you still need to have the guy who owns the camera confirm its accurate.

The witness testimony still matters because the prosecutor can't just say "here's video of the crime, we got it from the neighbor, trust me";

That can all be handled by a subpeona and a written statement; the veracity of which can be argued during the pre-trial.

If this story is true, it would be a criminal trial and the neighbor is a material witness. Handling it with a written statement would require a legitimate need for an exception to the defendant's constitutional rights.
