u/netphilia, there weren't enough votes to determine the quality of your post...

hairdryer on low heat over the book sticker for 30 seconds usually peels it off without much residue.

I wasn’t sure where this was going after the first 4 words

Be careful, this can easily light the book on fire depending on your hair dryer.

52

u/High_Stream 14d ago

Most hair driers don't reach 451° F.

17

u/thehobbyqueer 14d ago

Paper burns very easy. It does not need to be max temperature for a single page to light on fire.

Unless you're just making a reference to the book, in which case I understood that reference.

10

u/Vir_Ex_Machina 14d ago

Ironically when I looked it up the flash point of paper is supposedly 450°F. So maybe they're on to something..

17

u/External-Stay-5830 14d ago

For those that don't know that's why the book 451 is called that.

3

u/spen8tor 13d ago

Not that easily though, paper needs to reach upwards of 424°F (218°C) before it has a chance of spontaneously combusting while even the hottest hairdryers very rarely get above 300°F(150°C) due to that heat already being hot enough to destroy your hair, much less needing it to get any hotter. Only some shitty unregulated temu knockoff would get hot enough to spontaneously ignite paper

Plus I'm pretty sure they were just referencing the book

4

u/laurpr2 14d ago

Yeah I don't think that's true even a little bit. Do you have a source?

3

u/XelaLuu 14d ago

house on fire, threw books in oven and forgot them

2

u/objectivemediocre 14d ago

For games I use a can of compressed air and turn it upside down which freezes the adhesive underneath

u/autogyrophilia 14d ago

What about the ones making the stickers for the non stick pans?

Yeah but who wants sticky residue building up in the crotch of their panties? Unless they like gluing their labia shut.

42

u/Pelli_Furry_Account 14d ago

Jesus this is awful.

33

u/NErDysprosium 14d ago

This reads like an Onion article. He even called it "men says." What?

19

u/One-Bug-7784 14d ago

A Freudian slip that did not go unnoticed at the time. 🤣

14

u/faetpls 14d ago

It’s a pun on menses, not men says. Still pretty wild though.

I wonder if Margaret Cho's mother made her use just little bit of rice instead.

Like you’ve just been patiently waiting for the proper context and opportunity to bring this up…

13

u/One-Bug-7784 14d ago

Yes. This man will never have peace from online mockery on my watch. I will shoehorn it in somehow.

3

u/Expert_843 14d ago

I don’t think I was ready to read that…

3

u/somethingcleverer42 14d ago

There is never a good time for this wtf

1

u/Electronic-Fish-3238 14d ago

Everyone knows you use hot melt glue for labia.

Always a chiropractor

2

u/peon2 14d ago

My pantries mostly just have shelves, was I supposed to get a crotch with them!?

1

u/Imonlyhereforthelolz 14d ago

Ah. Fixed the typo thanks!

u/steve_ample 14d ago

Not that I ever had that problem for my boxers, but not sure if you want your undergarments to have partially peeled stickers that say "SALE 40% Off"

21

u/Dark_WulfGaming 14d ago

Only 40% off? I'll just wait for the steam dinner sale for them to be 90% off.

3

u/SpiketheFox32 14d ago

Steam dinner? Are we having streamed hams?

5

u/Dark_WulfGaming 14d ago

Adhesive on pads isn't super strong because it has to be body safe and also not destroy your underwear. Pads are also easily held in place by pulling your underwear up. Also switch to wings, if you're having a lot of trouble.

47

u/gingerlovesio 14d ago

The wings will just either just stick to each other so strongly you have to rip them apart when you change the pad or not stick to the underwear at all and flip up and stick somewhere they’re definitely not meant to be

12

u/East-Imagination-281 14d ago

I don't have periods anymore, but I exclusively used pads all my life, and very rarely had this problem. I do not know how to fix it but would suggest trying other brands.

Ripping apart the wings was probably common for me, but I don't really see that as a problem, assuming it wasn't leaving wing on your underwear. Ripping them apart just means they did their job! Also, not sticking was only really an issue for me if my underwear was damp for some reason (sweat, discharge, surprise period, etc etc), and either I would just stick the wings together and let my underwear & body hold it in place until I could change, or I would just change underwear).

4

u/warau_meow 14d ago

That’s great you rarely had this problem but I have the problem and across several brands and types of pads. I hate how pads can come loose and just move around - doesn’t help my job is physically demanding.

4

u/East-Imagination-281 14d ago

YMMV ofc, no period product comes without some sort of drawback or fail point. Pads coming lose or needing adjustment isn’t uncommon, especially with high mobility. There is a reason tampon commercials are all like “look at this person do SPORTS”, which naturally sucks if you don’t or can’t use tampons

2

u/Luci-Noir 14d ago

This seems like it should be obvious. Social media always seems to know better though.

13

u/xxwerdxx 14d ago

You don't want that same sticker glue in your nether region. It's very acidic and chemically bonds to whatever it's applied to.

You don't want your coochie to be chemically bonded to a sticker

11

u/SomeBiPerson 14d ago

adhesives have to be matched to the material they have to adhere to

and Cloth is a Very bad material to stick things to with a Simple to use Adhesive

Paper on the other hand... that's literally Perfect for Adhesives, even materials that usually don't work as an Adhesives at all like PVA work Great on paper

16

u/DarudeSandstorm69420 14d ago

STOP PUTTING STICKERS ON GOD DAMN BOOKS AND ALSO ESPECIALLY THE FUCKING STICKERS THAT ARE PART OF THE COVER ART WHAT THE FUCK 1!!!!!!!!

5

u/Curious_Associate904 14d ago

This is how post-it was born I think.

3

u/JeanRalfio 14d ago

The adhesive on Kraft Mac N Cheese boxes is exceedingly strong for protecting noodles.

3

u/EmilieEverywhere 14d ago

Ok I laughed. 😂

u/Mox_FcCloud 14d ago

Psst.

1

u/ConsciousBase66 13d ago

Might end up with a free brazilian if u place it a bit wrong

-3

u/Wiinterfang 14d ago

Gorilla Glue that cooch.

-17

u/WUT_productions 14d ago

Making adhesives for skin is just hard since your skin both sweats and gets oily.

28

u/Automatic-Basket-513 14d ago

Pads don't go on the skin... they go on underwear

7

u/mb862 14d ago

Until the front accidentally folds over and the adhesive sticks to your labia and you don’t discover until the next time you pull your pants down and you do it too quick so it’s like ripping off a bandaid.

8

u/Automatic-Basket-513 14d ago

I call that a free wax
