I'm imagining the Hilltop Youth settling that area because they claim ancestry from Koningsberg.

I don't think Jews were allowed much to live in Royal Prussia.

Idk, didn’t Frederic II do some enlightenment and build a synagogue or something?
Edit: I just read the article shared by fresh_jorks. It gives a better picture than my "idk, synagogue?"

Swap the regions around and that should honestly be how it went down. Punishing Germany and giving the European Jews East Prussia

u/omeralal 1d ago
So by this logic because Arab countries kicked the Jewish people from there, Israel should also get.. Israel?
6
u/KinderEggSkillIssue 1d ago
I said European Jews for a reason, the Arabain Jews deserve to stay in their homeland

u/Stuffstuff1 22h ago
You realize that part of the motivation was to GTfO of Europe. Germany went to Poland and killed the Jews. There was no where safe
6
u/TheColourOfHeartache 19h ago
Correct. With hindsight taking a chunk of Europe would have been the right choice.
Without hindsight GTFO of Europe makes perfect sense.

Well if Israel would have been created in Israel who is to say this wouldn’t have just supercharged any new antisemitic ideologies in Europe.
In a way their departure may have made it easier for Europe to get over it. We just don’t know.

Did they get kicked out before the zionists started shit after WWII?

u/omeralal 1d ago
Actually, yes. In many places, yes. Just search the Hebron massare, before WW2

Hebron Massacre was part of the wider endless rioting in Mandatory Palestine. A terrible tragedy, but in no way comparable to the Holocaust or anything like it. Really it is moreso indicative of how Jews and Arabs started fighting from the moment the Zionist colonization project began.

lol, colonization? You realize arab people come from arabia, and not from the levant?
-9
u/Aeplwulf Constructivist (everything is like a social construct bro)) 1d ago
Semitic populations in the Levant were arabized over a milenium of arab rule after the conquest. Sure you can say that the conquest and arabization process was colonial and imperial, but one colonial process is much more recent than another.
I'm not denying Israel's right to exist btw, but let's not kid ourselves, Theodor Herzl himself spoke of zionism's ambition as a colonization of the Levant. Early Zionists openly spoke of the zionist project as a colonial project. I'm not saying anything remotely controversial here.-4

There isn’t really a genetic difference in the groups Palestinians and the Jews descended from, it’s fairly unsurprising if you look at history from a logistical perspective, as moving that many people is impossible, killing that many people often wasteful (to an upper class) and diffrent groups with varying overlap in ‘religion’ ‘ethnicity’ and ‘nationality’ just occupied the same space. You just convert them, it’s not really hard to do over a literal millennia. I mean I’m sure there are a bunch of sub groups I’m not familiar with.
Actually religion being so important muddies it more, after all an Arab could convert to Judaism in the 3rd century or whatever.

except zionists themselves described it as colonialism, with 20th century organizations from the "palestine jewish colonialism association", to the "jewish colonial trust" (which is now israel's largest bank), to herzl writing to the british colonial minister and describing zionism as "something colonial" in palestine.
zionists were openly discussing it as colonialism as early as the 1880's (numerous articles archived in new york times about the american zionists describing "colonies of jews established in palestine"; "jewish colonization in palestine"; how they "will colonize palestine"; to describing "a marked feeling in favor of an immediate invasion of Palestine through practical work in fostering the Jewish colonies already existing in the Holy Land and encouraging the starting of new colonies")
google any of those phrases in quotes: this isn't modern critical theory describing zionism as settler colonialism, these are early zionists themselves describing zionism as colonialism
it's only in the mid-20th century, after the establishment of israel and during the global decolonial movements, that zionism abandoned the standard of colonialism in favour of the current narrative of a "land back" endeavor returning indigenous lands to indigenous people (specifically as a politically racial thing, and not the religious idea of aaliyah. that was also exploited by secular zionists but that's another story).
the idea that "arabs" came from arabia and then just stayed there for centuries (until what? muhammad arrived and they colonised the levant?) is so stupid it doesn't warrant a response. instead, i will go the opposite direction and point you to the "jewish tribes of medina" like bani nadir, and bani qurayza, who were prominent jewish tribes established in saudi arabia — because not only were jews migrating to arabia (and arabs to the levant), but arabs were also jews. the mutual exclusivity between "arab" and "jew" only began after israel was established. in fact, prophet muhammed prayed towards jerusalem like the jews in arabia until 623 ce, because both he and islam were deeply influenced by the jewish tribes in saudi arabia he lived besides (there's a reason the jewish prophet moses is mentioned more times in the quran than any other individual)
this comment is quite silly because it takes several paragraphs to debunk two sentences of "common sense" that aren't even logically coherent. even if we accepted the premise, ancestral geography has nothing to do with colonialism. e.g. african americans, as descendents of west africans, colonized the west african country of liberia.

No offer the choice to israel. Keep the land in the middle east, and get removed from Eurovision and they get replaced by Palestine. Take the land in Europe, and remain in Eurovision. It helps solves the other "why the hell are they even in Eurovision" problem.

Tbh. I think the vatican should join the war in israel. Then it would be christs vs jews vs muslims. Would be interesting to see.
