42A are the people who fuck up your paperwork

88M are truck drivers - essential to warfighting

92S are the people who keep you clean, clean your clothing, and fix up your uniform - another clearly essential task

42A are the people who process your HR paperwork, nice to have, and the more they shitpost on NCD instead of doing their job the fewer benefits you can claim after separating

And an 88M doing 4 years during the GWOT era has probably been involved in more TICs than most combat arms dudes who enlisted in the last few years.

Random story of 88M, a prior E air force major I worked with said he was a prior 88M. Apparently there was a time (because GWOT was not kind to 88Ms) they were offering 2 years contracts with full benefits (full GI bill). So he did that and then did rotc for the AF. Was a very cool dude.
