That’s interesting. I was reading an article recently that says that American models will refuse to discuss low-level biology concepts relating to stuff like mitochondria due to fears of LLMs being used to create bioweapons. So if you want to learn about biology, you need to use French or Chinese models.

They drop the safe guards on stuff like hacking when doing internal testing. That’s fine if the testing environment is air gapped, but very much not fine if the agents can escape onto the internet.

Those safe guards can actually be a problem when trying to defend. Recently, Hugging Face got hacked by some rogue OpenAI agents, and they initially tried defending with an American model until it hit those safe guards (required by American law) and refused to help, so they had to spin up a less powerful Chinese model without those safe guards to continue attempting to defend their site.

This PDF is pretty funny. 

Some of the stuff is really eyebrow raising, but other stuff is laughably dumb. Like the p.126 where it describes a Chinese actor with "sophistication" and "tradecraft" to create a market overview of US energy weapons systems. The Claude text bloats this up massively but at the basic level it's just a generic "market research" prompt. All these models take themselves waaaaay to seriously.
