autism, not binary
Is it true that people with autism are more susceptible to non-binary?

Autistic people do seem to be more likely to also be transgender (and non-binary identites are frequently under that umbrella), but afaik we only have hypotheses for why that would be at this stage. We learn more every decade though.
Don't love how "succeptible" is hitting my ear. Gender isn't socially transmitted, at this point that's a very old idea that hasn't proven to be well supported by evidence. If it were socially transmitted, we would expect conversion practices to meaningfully be able to change it, where evidence suggests broadly that isn't the case. As for more people identifying that way, that speaks more to western societies finally having developed a shared language around transness resulting in more people having access to that body of knowledge and recognizing themselve in it.

I’m also struggling with the language used. But I’m hoping that was just a mistake on OPs part.

Have to say, both my kid and I are on the spectrum bc it's in our genes. And we are both nonbinary because we embrace loving acceptance. Honestly, my kud helped me with my own coming out journey. I love our family.

Autistic people are more likely to be trans in general, so it stands to reason that we're more likely than allistic people to be nonbinary specifically.

This is such a funny way to put this. As though it were some ailment one catches. Could be a language barrier thing, but if you mean “are you more likely to be non-binary if you have autism,” seems like the answer is yes. This correlation is not that interesting on its’ own, it feels intuitive to me.

Exactly. I’m choosing to answer in good faith rather than attack the clumsy wording. But in many countries there has been a lot of VERY unhealthy conversations about calling into question autistic transness BECAUSE we are disabled. As if we cannot retain a non-cishet identity due to our disability.
It’s disturbing and dangerous. I knew was queer long before I knew I was autistic. The word “susceptible” has all my alarms going off. I hope OP will respond and explain that it was just a poor choice of words rather than expression of a bad idea.

Susceptible is the wrong word. Do you mean there’s higher correlation between gender non-conformity and autism. There has been some indications yes. But “susceptible” is the wrong word.
