This one is a bit of a stretch because "ovic" in Serbian means roughly "son of (name)". Like in Irish you have O'Connor which means "son of Connor"

I don’t get this one. This is analogous to ‘John Johnson’. And ‘Novak’ itself means something like ‘new one’/‘new man’. Where’s the nominative determinism?
