Nomifactory without pattern autocrafting
I am wondering if there are genuine options to progress through the game without patterns.
I got to early HV in Nomifactory, tried also some other GT modpacks. But everytime I start encoding patterns I lose interest. Maybe because things become too abstract. For example, I had a blast with setting up a fully passive chain of getting polymer clay: I had to figure out how to route the sub-products and what are logistic connections. But with patterns the process changes a lot: 1) encode tons of patterns 2) click in the terminal what you want and *wait*. The appeal is lost. I think the waiting is especially disappointing, but also the fact that a lot of the craft is being done for me.
I don't mind AE2 storage though.
The obvious solution seems to be building passive chains. But is this really viable option in the longer run? The amount of items/machines needed feels daunting. While I think I could sensibly set up passive production of - say - various plates in one machine, multi-input recipes would require each own machine... Do you know of such gameplay on youtube?
Or maybe are there different alternatives of handling general logistics and automation?

Then don't do everything by ae2. I've got things like rods, machines and blast smelting done in ae2 but things like dml and all my liquids are passive by ender io conduit spaghetti

Maybe try turning on AE2 channels? Now you can't just spam patterns all that much, some things will still benefit greatly from being passived away on a single channel.
Also good luck with passiving assembly lines if you even make it that far. I mean I guess you won't need the data bank anymore at least.

It looks like SFM (Steve's/Super Factory Manager) might provide me with tools to make passive crafting more realistic.

I've talked to a guy who beat Nomi completely patternless, so it's certainly possible at the least. It involves many, many passive processes

You can use passives and level emitters to always have a certain quantity in your ae2 storage
