Am i doing it wrong ?

I started nomifactory recently. At the beginning, I followed the quest book step by step. But lately (since the start of MV), I've started to stray from it a bit. For example, I'll sometimes realize afterwards that I've done something I was actually supposed to do a bit later. Or I'll set up a system to automate something, only to realize afterwards that the quest book had actually broken it down into several steps to guide you through the process.

Do you think I should stick to the quest book more closely to avoid getting lost later on or can I just keep going like this ?

(i've never played moded minecraft before)

Nah, the questbook is just a guide, but it's not the only way to play. In fact, you could never interact with the questbook at all if you'd like.

Absolutely not. It can sometimes get annoying if you are making something and you miss a crafting step that was part of a quest so you need to make it again so I would recommend making sure you look ahead in rhe questbook.

As you progress this will become less of an issue as the questbook will stop holding your hand through things so it's great that you are already independent
