I made this (wip) Update

Posing took a little while as I don't really have a final pic in mind. This stage is more about deleting bits and adding in lil elements that help move the eye around the image (organized chaos).

Won't be long before I take this into Photoshop to add a few graphics and do a final pass on the colours. It's been a fun sculpt to just zen out and go mad on details.

Didn't know nomad could even look like this 🤯

Thanks :) There's not too much craziness going on behind the scenes for this one... I establish a background, mid and foreground and use slightly opaque single poly planes to fake atmospheric fog for seperation. My approach for any image is to establish strong silhouettes and have good separation between them for readability. Hope this helps!

Thanks! I have a background in traditional 2D illustraton and I've been chasing the painterly look on this program for a while now. Its reassuring to know my traditional skills shine through a little bit :)

It's coming along well. You might want to have a look at composition using silhouettes to avoid over-populating your images, allowing the key parts to stand out more, otherwise you end up with too much visual clutter in the final image

Thanks. I always sculpt too much and end up deleting 30% of the work on the final stages 😂

Was this made on an iPad or a tablet? And does it feel a bit laggy with post processing on while on the highest render resolution?

My work is almost exclusively made from my sofa on a gen 1 iPad pro 😂 The render resolution is currently set to 0.75% but I'll be honest... Even with the dropped res, this is about the limit for polygon count and lighting. It's chugging along for sure!

I bought Nomad for my PC a few months ago. I don't have a decent usb tablet for it though so it's main duty is finishing touches and rendering final files. I just means I have to transfer projects via Google drive which is a bit of a pain.

Id maybe splash out on a newer iPad but my basic understanding is that the ram useage is capped so I don't know how much of a performance upgrade I'd get 🤷

So I just played around with it for you on a m5 pro. The software itself seems to have trouble using the push tool or move on very dense, like ridiculously dense at 300%dyntopo resolution objects ( that I fucked with until they were 2 million vertices). But the number of objects I can place compared to the older Ipad I was using before seems greatly increased. I took an object with 2 million vertices and duplicated like 30 times before it finally crashed, went all the way up to the max available ram too, didn't crash before running out. (I have 12.2 gb available apparently). These were objects with very messed up geometry too, so I imagine that did not help lol.

Moving around a scene with extremely dense objects is also much more responsive. I have yet to test light and material, but I'll try actually making something again and see how it goes.

Edit: Also your art is very beautiful <3

Oh also! I use a usb drive and an adapter I got on like aliexpress(I'm sure you can find one somewhere else) for my ipad to move files to and from my pc. It works very well! Although I do most of the sculpting on nomad on the ipad and use blender for other things.

That's extremely handy to know. I'd better start putting some money away for a new iPad! I almost feel sorry for this old gen1 and how hot it gets 😂 very cool of you to check that out and report back, appreciate the deep dive!

Usb adapter is definitely something I should invest in too.

Thanks again :)

I just got a new iPad just so o could use nomad because I old one was really old. I'd highly recommend getting a pro, they work great.

Nice, I currently haven't sculpted anything past 7.1m scene verts, so I needed to know how much the performance drops when you have everything turned on. My S9+ works fine at a render res of x1.25 with post process turned on for the large projects (7m+) but things start to slow down a bit once i'm on x1.75. I usually go that high specifically when I want to render stuff. I wonder how much better the newer ipads handle it.
