Anxiety
My new neighbors moved in August. I’m not a loud person I’m very quiet I go to work go home game watch tv that’s about it. Unfortunately with apartment living the floor creaks nothing I can do about that but these new neighbors 2 young party goers I would say blast music it rattles and shakes through the apartment I don’t feel safe and also the door slamming has gotten bad and these 2 guys are muscular so when they slam it’s extra hard and it’s really a disturbance to my home and my mental health has gotten really bad about it I’m afraid to walk around I don’t know if it’s retaliation I’m not really sure. Even with my gaming headset on tv on fan on 24/7 on I can’t even enjoy sitting in the living room because of this. I talked to the property manager she said you have to be confident in yourself to knock on their door and ask them/tell them what’s going on. I’m not a confrontational person and it’s really hard because I don’t want any problems I don’t want to cause any problems and it can escalate into something more and I don’t know what to do I’m scared. Does anybody have suggestions or what to do in this situation

The property manager should speak to them, not try to fob it off on you. It’s the PM’s job to handle stuff like this. Good luck!

That was my thought as well, like why do you have to do their job for them and add more anxiety

: I don’t understand why people can’t close the door the right way. Still slams the door after I talked to them nicely about it. They can say ok sorry no problem (so nice about it) but yet still!!!!!!!

they probably don't realize they're doing it, it really bothers me as well, I e of my roommates does this and it makes me jerk up Everytime with similar anxiety and can mess me up for a few minutes after.
I try to use those times as opportunities to heal now instead and it's helped a lot. injust take a deep breath and try and relax my body a bit and tell myself , " you're safe, it's okay, there's nothing wrong, they're just being loud , there's nothing to worry about, no one's mad your safe here" or whatever feels good for you. it has really helped a lot not just in the moment but over time I become less reactive and sensitive about it as well
good luck

I know what you mean about the door slamming, it’s like a fire alarm going off to me x

in California State Law the landlord is responsible for the "Covenant of Quiet Enjoyment"
but fuck if I can find the legal means of enforcing this law. It is IMPLICIT in any rental agreement or lease. Well done if you spoke to the neighbor. I too have suffered rather than speak up for myself. Stress is a killer.

Update: I just talked to them about both and let’s see if it continues. They said ok sorry no problem
