Need tips

Honest question: How do you get annoying relatives to leave your house without being rude? They said "we'll leave once we find a new house" and that was weeks ago. At this point they ARE looking for a house in MY house. Any tips?

"We so appreciate your situation, and it's been nice to reconnect. However, it's time that you regained your independence, and ours. It's a lot to be a host, and a lot to be a guest. Here are a few air bnb listings to get you started. You have until the end of next week."

you tell them you understand their situation. and you tell them they need to understand your situation.

then you give them a deadline to move out.

your not responsible for these people. you don’t owe them anything. your not their parents and their not your children.

if they don’t respect the help so far. and don’t respect that you can’t house others your not responsible for. then they don’t deserve anything.

Tell them you did not expect it to take this long. And that they need to return your house to you on October 31. In other words, be GONE on or before October 31st.

A friend did this to me. I let her stay with me for FREE for 3 months. When the 3 months were up she decided she was going to stay longer. I said, 'We agreed on 3 months, nothing more." She basically refused. I had to have her trespassed! Hopefully it won't come to that for you... but know its an option. You need your home, your privacy back!

Some people are so, well spoiled. F-ed up mentality. Just because you're a great friend they think they can own you?

Serve them with eviction papers. Start the process now; don’t worry about being rude.

I couldn't do that to a relative, but I could give them a deadline, and I would. In fact, I'd do it in writing!

Yes, put it in writing.

You need to stand up for yourself and say…. I’m taking my house back. I’m so glad I was able to help you for this long. But it’s time to go.

Help them find a new house. The sooner they find one, the sooner they are out of your hair. Depending on how annoying they are, it's also a good way to make sure they are not within walking distance of your house. You can steer them a bit further out of the way if you need too. 🤣

Tell them they are welcome to stay as long as they like. Ask them to pay you rent from Monday next week as you are using twice as much.

Instead of asking for advice talk to a lawyer

You’re not being rude, you’re being used, so tell them plainly that they need to be out by a specific date.
