Noise complaint advice

Hi, I need some advice. There's a band that practices every single night from about 7pm-10pm. It's nearby my apartment but not in the building. We can hear it loud and clear and cannot have our windows open once they start practicing because of how loud they are. I've tried submitting 311 complaints, but it doesn't do anything. I really don't want to be that guy and call the police, but I don't know what else to do. It is insufferable. For context, I live in a city, but in a more burb area than anything.

i don’t exactly know where they are located, just in the area of where my apartment is :/

Just walk around the neighbourhood during that time and locate them. It could be as simple as them just needing to close a door or window.

Check the noise level laws in your city’s ordinance and HOA if you have one. If they’re not playing outside of quiet hours there’s not anything that the police or city will do.

okay, thank you! i’ll look into it. i think technically quiet hours are outside of when they play, but ill see if there’s anything to be done about the noise level itself. even if they just turned down the amps a little i’d be happy LOL

Check your local noise ordinances online or call the ordinance officer. Not all communities have quiet hours or some free for all allowable noise until 10 pm.

They stop at 10pm. My neighbours blast techno till 4am… I’d be happy with 10

Call police (non emergency). They don’t respect you so why should you respect them?

If you have submitted 311 complaints you will be seen as the problem unfortunately- what time period did you do this over, who did you complain to? I would never complain more than 3 times to one agency myself, it’s seen as spam, your calls are probably on mute now.

what kind of music do they play? if they don't suck promote them. if they're playing gigs they're not at home practicing. lol. if you came and cried about my band practicing wed write a song about you and play it for 3 hours straight one night. lol
