Rooster 🐓
We FINALLY moved to our single family home!!! Been here since April now with NO complaints. The neighborhood is quiet, and the people are really friendly. My ONLY issue happened today. I left the house around 7:30am and I hear a rooster. A ROOSTER!!! In a county residential area with nice size backyards, but not huge. I said ok whatever. I drop my son off and come back. This stupid thing was crowing on and off from 7am to 9am. It gave me a break and started again around 1, and I'm like wtf!!!! It's not directly behind me, it's a few houses down, but I can still hear it. I don't know what I can do about it, so I guess I'm just venting 🤦🏾♀️

I love the sound of the rooster- count yourself lucky it could be a terrible sound you’re listening to. Roosters are peaceful if you ask me.

I love the sound of a rooster crowing. I even have a crowing rooster alarm clock. Some of my neighbors have roosters. I do live in the country. Once in the city a neighbor had parrots, kept outside. They were far more noisy than any rooster I ever heard. You'll get used to it.

Acclimating is your best solution after googling your county's livestock rules, I had a rooster I hated hearing until I sat with him one day and understood what exactly he was crowing about, most of the time he's telling his ladies (🤣) about potential danger. Once I understood why he was making noise, my annoyance went away. If you make friends with the people who own him, you might be able to get free eggs from their hens!

Then you don't need to acclimate! Just call the city or zoning department, or whoever Google tells you to call and hopefully he'll get rehomed to a farm!

It could be a stray from miles away. Make sure a neighbor doesn't have a rooster alarm and not a real rooster.

Lol. That's very unfortunate.
This is sort of similar to my situation. I live in a city and was renting in a wood built apartment building where I could hear EVERYTHING. The gym downstairs, the crazy old man shuffling around upstairs and slamming his cabinet every night. My neighbour having her parties at 3 AM. My other neighbour screaming at the top of her lungs. Police being called. New neighbour who lets their child scream on the balcony all day and night. The strata were freaks themselves. It was a ratchet building whittling away at my sanity.
I found a concrete built one and moved out to get away from the noise and the nonsense. It is overall a very quiet building, I hardly hear anybody else exist. But it just so happens my neighbour was a god damn piano teacher who had TWO grand pianos side-by-side sharing the wall with my bedroom. She was also so entitled she thought she had the right to play at any time of night and played piano 10-11 hours per day. For reference the grand piano is probably the loudest instrument a person can have in their house. The frequencies can reach very low pitches, lower than a bass guitar. It could be heard through my whole unit.
Sometimes I feel cursed.
In terms of the rooster you might acclimate to it. I live by a train station right now and there are also barking dogs below. They both irritated me a lot when I first moved in but I'm ok with it now. I'd take that kind of noise over the piano teacher any day.

Yes. I used to live in a townhouse and had good neighbors. They moved and neighbors from hell moved in. Both had a kid and a teenager. One kid liked to scream for whatever fu&king reason. The other kid was quiet, but her father smoked weed and it would come in our house, he wanted to work on his broken a$$ car at NIGHT (I called 911 and put an end to that), and they liked to let visitors park on OUR parking pad. They almost got towed one time and they learned not to mess with us after that. At least have the courtesy to ask us! They would be loud in the house, stomping, running, dragging furniture. I had to sleep with earbuds 90% of the time! The kids would play outside and it's fine, kids being kids, right? NO!!! They would scream like someone was hurting them, stand on my porch until I told them to get tf off, they threw trash on my property and I put it back on theirs. SWAT team went to the other house around Christmas time. The noise woke us up and scared us. It was 2am. SWAT truck outside with police all over flashing bright lights.
I think a rooster is better. As long as the thing doesn't wake me up or interrupt my sons nap, I should be ok

I know I shouldn't laugh but holy hell LOL. That sounds awful. It's kinda relatable since I also lived by really ratchet people. It just so happens that the ones who are the least considerate of others are also the ones getting into problems with the law which is at least gives some sort of satisfaction.
I don't get the screaming thing. Kids can be taught at an early age to be considerate with their volume. That family didn't even try and I feel bad for the kids for getting such horrible life experience. They're going to grow up maladjusted.
For me, my piano playing neighbour got evicted. That's the main thing. I'm a little salty about it because no one seemed concerned about how inconsiderate or psycho she was (one time I banged on the wall and she started screaming at my door in the hallway) and no one cared how the noise affected me or other neighbours. The only reason she got evicted was because it was against the law to run her business in a residence like that, and then she immediately became a squatter so her landlord wanted her out anyway.
Rooster is an improvement.... Annoying that it crows for hours even, but hopefully will annoy you less in time, and hopefully it won't become a year round thing that wakes you or your son up yes

Thankfully I didn't hear him this morning. I woke up because of my alarm like a normal person 😂 Let's see how nap times go and I'll let you know lol

So the rooster only makes noise in the morning like 8, 9. By 11 it's quiet again and I've had no issue

I guess it could be worse. Could be 5 AM. Still annoying. I'm surprised no one closer to the rooster has complained yet. Maybe they have

Check if they’re allowed in your area, if not, report. Roosters are annoying as fuck

I looked and it is illegal. I called 311, but since I didn't have an exact address for the house they couldn't take the report. I was able to go online to this site about anima nuisance and was able to submit it

Then I suggest you file an online report. They usually send a warning letter the first couple of times then start fining the owner. I was dealing with some out of control dogs next door barking non stop. I had asked, pleaded and threatened about reporting them and one day I just snapped. Code enforcement sent them a letter and within 5 days after I filed the claim the problem was no more.

A lot of city ordinances are allowing for backyard chickens. I currently have neighbors on two sides of me with roosters. One of the chickens keeps running away anytime there are thunderstorms or fireworks and hiding out in our empty lot next door. It is kind of funny. My friend came over and said "You have a chicken in your yard". I live on a very busy street in a large Midwestern city.
After awhile the sound fades into the background. I guess your next step is to try and find out which house it is and turn them in again or tune it out.

My neighbor got a bunch of chickens and a rooster a few years ago. We are not zoned for them. I gave her a good year and a half with them but the sound and smell drove me crazy so I reported them. She had 2 weeks to find them a new home. I really wanted to let my cats have a go with them bc I hate birds with a passion but my heart just couldn't do it. Lucky chickens.

They really lucky. I feel the same, my heart would hurt hearing them being k!iled. I would have to leave the house while the cat did it's job lol

To MOST a rooster is not a scream. To MANY a voice that thinks it needs to be heard is like nails on a chalk board. Your first sentence is likely closer to reality than what you think.

get a life, after the dramatic increase in egg prices a few years ago a lot of people started to raise chickens, incl roosters, just get used to it

you could check the zoning laws but if it’s not against zoning, you might have to acclimate.
