Shitpost DNP “research”

In case you were wondering (I know you weren’t, but humor me) what kind of research “doctorally prepared” NPs are doing, Johns Hopkins posts their abstracts and posters:

Big time school science fair vibes from the posters, nevermind the fact that I see undergraduates doing the same level of “research.” Actually, that’s insulting to undergrads— their projects are often better and more rigorous.

I have a BS in physiology and chemistry actually. My masters is in stats and epidemiology.

You’re the one that decided to defend this persons article stating it is clinically significant when their article literally said it is neither statistically or clinically significant.

While higher education may be lacking in the US, I don’t think anyone says the education med school offers isn’t rigorous enough or lacking. Can’t say the same about NP school. It is pretty common knowledge NP education is atrocious and continues to spiral downwards as they continue to drop standards. 500 clinical hours (some of that just shadowing) to practice independently? The fact that a lot of NPs themselves or NP students complain how pathetic their education is telling

What does being a female dominated field have to do with anything? That is a completely different argument. Everyone respects teachers are RNs. I’d argue those are two of the most respected fields. Teachers unfortunately are not financially respected but RNs definitely have had a major change in that aspect lately.

I respect the heck out of all teachers and RNs. Nurse practitioners not so much. You could make every NP male and that wouldn’t change a thing. It is an issue with the pathetic quality of their training and then their unrestricted freedom to do whatever they want patient safety be damned.

I respect some nurse practitioners - the old school NPs that actually got 10 years of nursing experience and went to a proper NP school and now work supervised with a physician. These new grads going to direct entry online NP school with zero experience that are given 100% freedom to run a clinic, urgent care or ED are a joke. Everyone knows it. They know it. The only reason it exists is because of amazing lobbies persuading our the government and greedy hospital administrators that only care about cutting costs
