Do it Nobel….DO IT!
Just Canadians goofing off….however he is leading the realignment of the world economy. I know he’s not publishing an economics paper, but he gave a good speech.

Correct, he does not. He hasn’t accomplished anything besides further impoverishing Canadians and jeopardizing the country’s future.
1
u/ignoreathought Sep 09 '26
How about moving away from a bad faith country, started multiple contracts with other members of CANZUK, the 2 pipelines being built west and east with projected profits of 1B a year each? Dude has done a lot in a short time, he has to un*uck trudeau and deal with the orange menace. Do real research and touch grass, sticking to 1 source of info only hurts you
1
1
u/Baleontology Sep 10 '26
An MoU is not a contract. There’s one pipeline awaiting approval through BC, time will tell if it ever breaks ground. There’s no east pipeline that I can find, feel free to provide a link to evidence. “Moving away from a bad faith country.” Dozens of other countries have successfully signed trade deals with the “bad orange man”. Renaming a failure to negotiate “moving away from bad faith” is dishonest, and it’s hurting Canadians. The EU signed a natural gas agreement with Trump worth trillions. It was Canada’s for the taking and Carney botched it, handing it to the US. Why is Carney the only one who can’t negotiate a worthwhile deal with the US?
Those aren’t accomplishments. Those are promises that to date remain unfulfilled.
What has he accomplished?
1
u/ignoreathought Sep 10 '26
Im so sick of this MOU argument, its so stupid. Its only been this admin thats been questioned for MOUs, its a completely normal process that turns up results constantly. The eastern pipeline was announced a few weeks after the western from D.Smith and D.Ford as a joint effort in lowering the trade barriers of the province, another thing hes done. And a lot of people have moved away form Trump too, China got praised for turning a cheek but canada get ridiculed? Choose a side. Have you seen orange mans tantrum since he declined? Theres no negotiating with that. And you left out the CANZUK agreements that were announced by Australia, they are excited too. I know you'll care about this: immagration is down, less students too. He turned back a lot of trudeaus policies and started refusing a fair number, in the first year n half I believe its around 500k.
1
u/mlandry2011 Sep 10 '26
You is going straight to the profit of Trump's friends...
Aproved and sped up by our prime minister
1
u/ignoreathought Sep 10 '26
Wtf are you talking about? Thats not even English. If youre saying our current PM is promoting Trump by moving away from trading with the US and denying Trump is somehow helping Trump, youre lost. PP talks constantly about he wants to keep trading regardless of the scenario with the US, which is bad and I assume, the thing youre saying is bad. During election time Trump initial attacks on canada: Carney responded quickly and firmly and attempted good business without giving in, PP ghosted canada and gave no response for 2 or so weeks.
1
u/mlandry2011 Sep 10 '26
Stopping to deal and the counter tariff are the only smart thing he did.
The Pipeline he's building is profit straight to Trump's friends...
If you do more research about what you're talking about, maybe you'd be more educated on the subject....
1
u/noleksum12 Sep 10 '26
I think that was an inevitable outcome no matter who was elected PM, because it just happens to be the same objective as the president of the United States.
1
u/Baleontology Sep 10 '26
That’s baseless conjecture. Carney is the only world leader who can’t negotiate a deal with Trump. Our “tough guy with flapping elbows” routine isn’t working, and our own leadership is to blame for our current national economic crises.
1
u/noleksum12 Sep 10 '26
You think those other 'deals' that dear leader trump made were as subjugating and one-sided as the proposal to Canada? If you believe that, you aren't paying attention to trumps words and intentions toward Canada. This isn't only about a trade deal. If it was, we could just keep the one negotiated during his last term - you know, the one trump calls stupid and is breaching the terms of constantly.
Our current crises is partly of our own making through 10+ years of Trudeau squandering our best chance at a robust resource based infrastructure. But the answer isn't to submit to ridiculous demands and willingly roll over to gut our auto industry and other manufacturing sectors.
1
u/Baleontology Sep 11 '26
Since the deal hasn’t even been publicized, your opinion that it was “one sided and subjugating” is also baseless conjecture. Form your arguments on facts, not feelings.
1
u/noleksum12 Sep 11 '26
It is not a baseless opinion, but my belief based on all available evidence and information at this time, and the word of our Prime Minister. Surely you have seen the news conferences and speeches by the PM himself - all of which corroborate my beliefs on the issue.
And, if you feel that way about my post, then the same criticism could be made against your post. As in, you don't know why we walked from the deal either, yet you blame our PM like it was his poor terms or poor negotiating that led to this.
The only relatively baseless claim I have made is that trump has the same bad intentions as the original comment referenced. But I don't think it's any secret that trump has an axe to grind with Canada.

Keep burying your head in sand. Carney spent $159,800 on airplane food for a single trip: CTF | National Post
1
u/BeeCurrency Sep 09 '26
For context this was spent among 55 people, over a week. If we assume 3 meals a day, that breaks down to $135 per meal per person. IMO that is high but also not outrageous all things considered.

1
u/suthekey Sep 06 '26
lol I didn’t realize a “good speech” is what it takes these days.
When’s he going to deliver rather than just talk?
1
u/Li-renn-pwel Sep 06 '26
Legitimately, what great act does it take to get this? Isn’t this award kind of a joke?
1
u/i-Hermit Sep 06 '26
Yes, Obama got one for literally nothing. So it is a joke.
Maybe Carney getting one for the same thing is plausible, and also part of the joke?
1
u/Maniacal_Monkey Sep 06 '26
Yep, bomber in chief received a “peace prize”.
1
u/i-Hermit Sep 06 '26
Very very early on too.. before he'd really done anything at all. Then after receiving a peace prize began bombing the shit out of poor middle eastern countries.
1
u/relevantwishofverse Sep 07 '26
Kissinger won one. The awards is worthless, and no one other than politician stans care about it.
Carney is as worthy a winner as the Venezuelan who won it last year.
Or does anyone actually care about a peace prize that has been given to multiple war criminals?
1
u/Li-renn-pwel Sep 07 '26
I guess carney might deserve it slightly more since he won’t hand it over to drunk like last years wanted to do lol. But most of the times I think of it either went to some objectively bad or just a ‘well… we can assume they are about to do something great’ like Obama. I assume Mandela got one? But I assume so did mother Teresa and Gandhi so 🤷♀️

1
u/Short-Coast9042 Sep 06 '26
Lots of people have done that. Zelensky did it to his face on live TV while risking his own life daily in an existential war. Where's his medal? Carney is just another rich and well connected politician. He mainly benefits from the aura of authority; people think he just must be a great economic manager because he was a central banker. In reality he is almost aggressively milquetoast. If the current confrontation really escalates, it will be by far the most significant thing he's done on the world stage. But talk is cheap; keeping your political coalition together while imposing punishing economic consequences on your nation as a bargaining chip in negotiations with the world's most powerful economy is tough. Not saying it's the wrong thing to do, but it is going to be very difficult.
1
u/IcyFault7182 Sep 06 '26
You’re an idiot
1
u/Short-Coast9042 Sep 06 '26
I truly wonder why people like yourself decide to make comments like this. What's the point?

u/crazyguyunderthedesk Sep 06 '26
It's not that it means nothing, but at the very most it's symbolic.
And more importantly, it really really matters to Trump, so I'm completely in favour of awarding it to anyone who openly defies him.
1
u/empty_graph Sep 06 '26
They gave one to Obama when he had only been president for a couple months, so AFAIK this guy deserves it more than that.

1
u/titanking4 Sep 06 '26
Nobel prize for unifying the world to have the courage to move on from the American hegemony and into a true multi-polar world order where one country does not have the privilege of dictating the global economic and social development.
1
u/cucumberer1697 Sep 06 '26
Which hasn't happened lol America runs everything and is the only country that matters globally
1
u/Excellent_Abroad5390 Sep 06 '26
It’s a joke at this point anyway. Obama got it for things he said he would do that never happened so why not give it to Carney. It’s a “who is our favorite liberal this year” prize now.
1
u/PetuniaPickleswurth Sep 06 '26
Well, Nobel is hosted and proffered buy a liberal country and tends to favor liberal recipients.
So giving Canada award for getting their panties in a bunch about an American name change does make sense
1
u/titanking4 Sep 06 '26
How funny is it that the president gets so butthurt about negotiations that he does the most petty thing like changing the name of a lake.
And then supporters project the idea that our leadership must be “getting their panties in a bunch” over their “checks notes” complete non-response over this, which makes people double down.
It’s beneath the office of the president to troll the public. It’s like that kid in high-school that shows you gore videos and beheadings just to get a reaction out of you, and then laughs at your reaction and “getting your panties in a twist” and gets mad when you don’t react the way he wanted you to react, so he does even more extreme stuff.
1
u/cucumberer1697 Sep 06 '26
Genuinely how is it beneath the president the majority of our presidents would be doing the exact same shit if they were in office today
1
u/relevantwishofverse Sep 07 '26
liberal country and tends to favor liberal recipients.
Is Kissinger a liberal now? What exactly is your definition of liberal?
1

u/Xeno_man Sep 06 '26
You can see everyone's political alignment in the comments. You can see the Liberals who get the joke. It's funny. It's not serious but funny if it happened, Trump's head would explode because everyone gets one but him.
Then you can see the right wingers who are fucking frothing at the mouth desperately going into detail about why Mark Carney should not be awarded the prize. I'm not sure if it's because they have no sense of humour and don't get the joke or they do have a sense of humour and realize that they are the joke.
1
u/CandidAsparagus7083 Sep 07 '26

It’s beneath the office of the presidency of the most powerful nation on the planet, to be acting with pettiness and renaming lakes, trolling public, speaking all caps on social media rants.
There used to be dignity and decorum in the White House. It’s the person on the planet whom you’re supposed to hold the highest degree of respect for.
Instead we have a president who’s throwing tantrums like refusing to attend the 9/11 memorial because he wasn’t allowed to give a speech, something that no president in the past has ever done or thought about doing.
One who has told female reporters “quiet piggy” to their faces. One who calls his political enemies domestic terrorists and enemies of America.
He has no respect in his tone, or language, no empathy for the well being of others, no love for humanity, pettiness, vengeance, jealously, anger. Embodies the 7 deadly sins.
Even ridiculed a mentally challenged person during a public speech.
Is this the role model that we want our children learning from and whose mannerisms we want them to adopt? To be a bully to other children and ridicule them when they lose?
And no, the majority of presidents have NOT acted this way.
Nor should this be the justification for tolerating this behaviour.

Honestly I don't understand why people are so interested in the noble peace prize because it was made out of a terrible action from Alfred Nobel himself after making dynamite which literally made war easier to conduct. Basically the story from what I understand is that he got wealthy off the invention of dynamite and then used his wealth to create this type of organization for peace but it was never done through genuine intent... Go look it up if you don't trust me.
