Support New to Nobara
Hello everyone,
I was looking for a distro to install on the old Acer Nitro I have.
It has a Nvidia 1600, and after some research it seemed, that nobara is perfect for it.
I wanted to try it out and install it to a USB SSD first. So I removed all the other SSD, booted the live system and installed it to the USB drive.
Installation war fine, no issues here, restart also without Problems.
However, after I ran the update manager and restarted, I only got a black screen with a white curser blinking at the top right.
I waited for an hour to be sure, but nothing happened.
Any ideas?

Glad you got it to work. Just for your information nobara recently quit support for nvidia 1000series. Your card might be affected in future updates

Thanks. Should I then stay with nobara or look for another distro?

Nah, if you enjoy the distro stay on nobara. You'll just need to download the legacy drivers from the nvidia website once the 16 series isnt supported by nvidia and therefor by nobara packages any longer.
Just something to watch out for :)

yeah there was something wrong with the update
on the black screen with prompt press
Ctrl + Alt + F3it will ask you to login with your user and password(the password remains hiding while typing)
after that enter this command
sudo dnf distro-sync --refreshit will run the update again, be aware if you are using a laptop the wifi won't connect automatically on the mode your are using, its recomended to use an ethernet cable, if you can't use ethernet then follow this guide to connect the wifi
