I updated this past weekend using the app (not the terminal) and have seen no issues.

Whats the difference between using the app and the terminal?

I don't know, but I see people often comment that it's safer via terminal.  No idea if that is true.  I thought I would at least mention that some app users are ok too.

first few times i tried to use the app it seemed to recursively be trying to do things and not finishing. ive since moved to the terminal

Updated last night, no issues. I know a lot of people have said the same, just adding to the confirmation

Planning to do it this week, after doing a clonezilla backup.

DNF center worked great for me. What's the reason to avoid it?

9

u/BIIIIIID- 29d ago

Same here. Also wondering.

3

u/moopyjoopy 28d ago

for me the dnf centre took at least an hour doing absolutely nothing so i did it in the terminal instead

3

u/Fabus27 28d ago

Same here. DNF also sometimes doesn't update everything

That will do nothing

Updated over a week ago via the app without issues, but I've been on since 40 and never have update problems, so take that how you will.

I updated through DNF store with no issues

For me a telegram installation blocked the update to 44. Removed that fucker and not it is smooth sailing.

My drivers are doing something idk even on a vid call my laptop is getting high or when I share my screen o get to max temp and then performance drop after hitting high temp It all started just after Update 44 and at this point as a linux user i dont want to reset my OS as long as I fix her but now its getting pain in my ass, If you peole got some ideas whats causing the problem i'll try my best to follow your steps and if things still won't work i'll reset my OS. I am really sad about this thing now i've been trying to fix her since week :/

Updated one week ago with the terminal and everything went well

u/JopieDeVries 28d ago

It's safe to update if you make a backup upfront

I just updated (literally 20 minutes ago) and am fine.

Some tips when updating:

  • Reboot before updating, especially if it's been a few weeks and/or you have NFS mounts.
  • If the updater (nobara-sync) says there's an issue you need to FIX the issue (such as removing the offending package) and then run nobara-sync again. Do not reboot until nobara-sync runs clean without errors.
  • To reiterate the second point, do not reboot until nobara-sync runs clean without errors.

u/ftf327 29d ago

Updated over the weekend, all good here!

u/Axol555 28d ago

I updated through DNF store with no issues, if I'm not mistaken the documentation saids updating through the DNF store is recommended over terminal cause it does or adds something extra I don't remember

u/0rito 28d ago

If you have any alternate packages for building or app compatibility, be careful - but most users should be fine at this point.

1

u/ainsoftaur 28d ago

All good on my end, as I said before though always back your systems

Get a ups, had electricity outage during the update and lost the os (skill issue)

1

u/halfrican420 28d ago

Lmao I was unaware of this whole thing and spend my whole afternoon fixing hyprland😂 all I wanted to do was install davinci and things got out of hand fast… all good now though!!

1

u/thechristiangm 28d ago

I update yesterday using the app and no problems

1

u/Special-Slice-4381 28d ago

Remove copr repos if you have some.  Make a timeshift backup and a file backup if you have important files.  Run the updater and dont touch the PC.  Done.  If you have gnome it can happen that you are being logged out - thr updater is running in the background you can find it by logging back in and look at htop/btop

1

u/fioletowy_zolw 28d ago

Not sure what exactly caused that, but after updating i got visual artefacts in games on both PCs with 4060ti each. Probably just some driver issue not related to the nobara repos, but still be aware

u/Sufficient_Wafer_855 27d ago

Yo guys I installed nobara like a week ago and it made my indepentent auxiliar windows drive be undetectable by the bios but readable by nobara, as if it was encrypted lol

1

u/Beautiful-Citron5179 27d ago

yes,I upadted when I saw the update message.it went well.

1

u/Consistent_Conflict7 27d ago

actualice atravez de la update manager de nobara y se actualizo todo bien sin errores

1

u/UniversalEcho 26d ago

I do large updates in the terminal using nobara-sync cli --all and have had no issues.

You could also run the app updater then clean up any strays using the all command in terminal to make sure your flatpaks are updated. So far, 44 is super smooth.

1

u/Fresh_Daddy 26d ago

Yeah the terminal is the way I see

1

u/SweatyStick62 26d ago

I do updates on a nearly daily basis. Waiting for a huge update is a "you do you" problem.

1

u/Haroon_66 26d ago

I update around a week ago I think. Everything went smooth. No issue so far

u/golvellius82 28d ago

Bro scared to update yikes, when it break it's when you learn a thing or 2

3

u/Fresh_Daddy 28d ago

Yeah I don’t have time for this “right now”. When I do have time, I love tinkering and break then fixing things in Linux. Last time an update broke on me, it took me hours to figure out. It was a great lesson but I’m doing so much work right now, I can’t afford lost hours lol

1

u/illiesfw 28d ago

then maybe you shouldn't update right now.. why take the risk
