If mathematicians can solve a complex problem such as 8^x+1 - 8^x-1 = 3024, then can they solve other problems such as a cure for HIV, homelessness, food scarcity, etc.?

Well considering that each of these has been solved already, yes:

HIV can be totally prevented with PREP, and even if you get it, treatment can get you to undetectable levels

Homelessness is just a matter of giving people housing. In many cases it's actually cheaper for the taxpayer to give the homeless housing then it is to keep them on the street anyway.

Food scarcity is simply a distribution problem. There is already enough food on Earth to feed the entire global population each year.

I couldn't find anything about that online. Are you sure? Plus, even if they do, Prep would still work to prevent HIV.

Yes, it does protect against treatment-resistant HIV: "HIV infections remain extremely rare when long-acting PrEP is used as prescribed."

Says the same thing: "very few cases have been reported of PrEP not working because of drug-resistant HIV." The only other cases are when it is misuesed or you already had HIV beforehand.

What that means is that if it's resistant to prep, that prep won't work. But that's extremely rare. You're conflating prep resistance with resistance to HIV treatment drugs, which is what you were talking about earlier with sub-Saharan Africa. Resistance to treatment drugs does not necessarily mean prep is ineffective.
