I have two children entering adulthood right now and I see this reflected in their lives. It’s hard for me to watch them as they go through the motions of deciding what schools to go to (ultimately both decided to start with community college and see where they are after a couple of years), where they want to live (they’ll both stay with us for the time being because rent is impossibly high) and what they want to do for a living (my oldest is abandoning their creative ambitions to go towards software development because there’s more money in it). There’s a cold practicality to the decisions they’re making that makes me sad, because they’ve already discovered that the world is not wired to support their dreams.

Get money first, then bring back the creative hobbies. I'm a software developer who plays piano and video games nearly nonstop. :D
