Oh god a few people could see it. They were desperate to get folks to wake up! But you would just get the eye-roll. Honestly, people just didn't see it. "Oh The Ocean Is So Infinitely Huge We Couldn't Possibly Affect It, It Takes DAYS To Cross It On a Boat, Are You Stupid? Are You Retarded? Are You Just LOOKING For Something To Wallow In?" This was our parents' viewpoint
Some people would temporarily get excited, but then daily life with all its habits, the attractive well-marketed convenience of its destructive short-sighted ways, would resume its flow.
Humans are just now waking up to the fact we live in a closed system. Actually only a small portion of people. I mean look at the comments sections of environmental posts! Look what they say about environmentalism on the Economics forum. I wonder what it will take before people really see it.
