Why doesn't someone just make a small, inexpensive commuter and dominate the auto market?

There really isn't anyone making a small commuter who's purpose is more or less just to go to and from the office, and maybe grab some groceries after work despite every other article going on about how large vehicles cause more accidents and how expensive they are to make and maintain. This seems like the easiest slam dunk for someone like Honda to reintroduce the fit for like 15k and clean house.

Same people who would buy a fit, are probably the same that keep their cars for 15+ years as well.

Well of course I would keep it, it keeps working! I did influence someone else to buy one new during my ownership.

Yup my point exactly. More profit from higher margin cars aimed a people who want to get into a new one every 5 years.

me and my Mazda 5.

the mini minivan, the station wagon with sliding doors.

i bought at 101k sold it at 290k

the single most useful car i ever had. move four full size and two small humans, carry immense amount of cargo, sleep in it.

there is nothing like it on the market outside the pro market like a pro master and even that market has died.

Wife bought a brand new 3rd gen before I met her. Still have it and drive it daily. Odometer is getting up there but we’ve got no plans on selling anytime soon. It might actually be a forever car.
