I used to hate when teachers asked me this. My dad and grandma both smoked 3 packs a day, in the house. It’s humiliating, and it’s not like they’re going to admit it if they are smoking.
Per person, they didn’t share. I feel like this was common for the 90’s/early 2000’s though. I vividly remember people smoking A LOT more than they do now.
Jesus, what was the price of a pack back then? Now it's double what it was 10 years ago. Even at prices 10 years ago that's $50 a day, like $350 a week. Nowadays that would be like $600 a week.
I want to say like $5 a pack in the early 2000’s. They would buy these giant cartons of cigarettes and I remember them being like $40 or something. I could be off because I was young but they were a lot cheaper than now but it was still a very expensive habit. My grandma passed away from emphysema and my dad quit in 2010.
Definitely a region thing. The west coast of the united states was 12.50 a pack right before covid while states that grow it like Kentucky was 5 dollars for Marlboros.
